My first job was in a restaurant and from the very beginning, I was enthralled by the whole experience. A restaurant kitchen is an exciting place- full of heat, energy, noise, action and food. I loved it. To help further my career, I attended culinary school in Hyde Park, NY and began to pursue a career in the culinary arts. Then came the birth of my first child and my world changed. I loved my career, however, restaurant work is simply not conducive to the type of family life I wanted. The hours are long and require you to work nights, weekends and holidays. So, I decided to put my career on hold while I was raising my family.

In January 2006, I bought a ball of wool and a set of knitting needles. I then borrowed a book from the library and taught myself to knit. I quickly became obsessed. I poured through piles of knitting books. I spent hours looking at patterns and reading about knitting techniques. I discovered that local yarn shops and nirvana are the same thing. Within months I had tried my hand at stranded color work, intarsia, lace and cables. My family thought I was a little crazy, but I had found another passion.

Yarn Chef is a combination of my two passions. Instead of cooking for flavor, I cook up color -and inspiration for your creations.
Thank you so much to all my wonderful customers who have given me the opportunity to homeschool three wonderful boys and still pursue my dreams.
