About

Little did I know it then but my love affair with all things linen started when Grandma Elsie came to live with us when I was a young girl. She regaled us with stories of her life growing up on a produce farm in Red Run. One of the things she told us about was how they grew flax, processed it into linen thread or yarn, and made fabric, and then clothing and household items with the fabric. She still had some bureau scarves made of that linen. When I close my eyes I can still see it, and feel it.

My love of sewing began by watching my mother making clothing and school dresses for us when I was a little girl. I've made clothing, household items, reupholstered furniture for 20 years, made many many quilts, and now meditation cushions. Sewing is what I "come home to".

I was inexplicably drawn to the teachings of Paramahamsa Yogananda in my twenties. "Self-realization" was a scary term! It seemed like the utmost in heresy to me at the time. Well, that was a long time ago, and it has been quite the journey to this place called "NOW".

One of my hopes or dreams for the future is to be in a position of running a local meditation center. Meanwhile, I am attempting to live a mindful life with the company of two very precious feline friends.

If you ever visit Sarasota please schedule time to visit Siesta Key Beach. It is rated #1 of the the world's top ten most beautiful beaches.
