When I was a kid, we use to go to garage sales. I would pick up these paint by number kits, flip them over and paint on the back side. I have always been creative, but many years passed before I was so bold to actually call myself an "artist" - outloud.
I was encouraged in high school to pursue a career in art. I advanced my education in a "practical" way receiving a degree in Graphic Design, which led to some great jobs in advertising.
After the birth of our two kids and relocating, I returned to my passion of painting. Liking quality paper (but now living on one income), I began painting miniatures using every precious inch of paper. These small paintings, led to my detailed and expressive watercolors that have been represented in galleries throughout the northwest. Over the years, my paintings have evolved in size and creativity and some times I splurge and use a whole sheet!
My work is best known for their "stories of inspiration". My watercolors reveal a transparent narrative of life. I like to paint a fresh perspective to common elements, often times connecting the viewer through metaphorical representation.
I find my inspiration within the context of daily life – friends, family, my faith and sense of humor.
“My goal as an artist is to create painting that inspire, generate a smile and offer a bit of conversation within your soul.” – ann yoder
