My Jewelry Making Journey
Aprendí a hacer joyas por primera vez cuando tenía unos ocho o nueve años. Una amiga me enseñó cómo hacía aretes colgantes y ¡pensé que era genial poder diseñar tus propias piezas! Hice un par de pares con ella, que todavía conservo a día de hoy.
No pensé mucho en esto en ese momento, ya que era una actividad aleatoria por la tarde, pero avanzando rápidamente hasta la Navidad de 2015, quería poder tener mis propios suministros. Entonces un miembro de la familia me compró algunas herramientas y cuentas para iniciar mi camino.
Como probablemente ya habrás deducido, me enamoré. Comencé a invertir más en mi oficio y trabajé para perfeccionar mis habilidades. Me encanta traspasar los límites de lo que sé y hago para crear diseños nuevos y más únicos. He tocado muchas áreas de la fabricación de joyas y, durante un tiempo, los aretes fueron con lo que me sentí más cómoda.
Sin embargo, a principios de 2022, me pidieron que hiciera un diseño muy específico. Algo que nunca había hecho antes y tenía muchas ganas de intentarlo. Me encantó el resultado y aprendí mis habilidades. Decidí dejar fluir mi creatividad y comencé a esbozar nuevas ideas cada vez que podía, para no olvidarlas la próxima vez que me sentara a hacer joyas. Hasta el otoño, hacía nuevos diseños constantemente y disfrutaba cada segundo.
Estoy volviendo al ritmo de las cosas y no podría estar más feliz por ello. Estoy trabajando para poder restablecer mi tienda y seguir vendiendo en Etsy.
I first learned how to make jewelry when I was about eight or nine years old. A friend taught me how she made dangle earrings, and I thought it was so cool to be able to design your own pieces! I made a couple pairs along with her, which I still have to this day.
I didn't think much of this at the time, as it was a random afternoon activity, but fast forward to Christmas of 2015, and I wanted to be able to have my own supplies. So a family member bought me some tools and beads to start me on my way.
As you could probably deduce by now, I fell in love with it. I started investing more into my craft and worked on honing my skills. I love pushing the bounds of what I know and do in order to make new and more unique designs. I've touched in many area of jewelry making, and for a while, earrings were the one thing I felt most comfortable with.
However, about early 2022, I was asked to make a very specific design. Something I had never made before, and I really wanted to give it a shot. I loved the outcome and learned my skills. I decided to let my creativity really flow and began sketching out new ideas every chance I got, so that I would not forget them by the time I sat down to make jewelry next. Up until the fall, I was making new designs constantly and was loving every second of it.
I am getting back into the swing of things, and I could not be happier about it. I am working to be able to set my shop back up and continue selling on Etsy.
