So where is the Rabbit?
Creativity with functionality and design is my passion! Having a scholarship for home economics (which I never used) my life took a turn when I built my own home and learned carpentry. Then my passion revealed itself..."architectural design!" The last 30 years have been spent building, renovating, and redesigning homes, flipping, and selling.
My love for fabrics just had to have a creative niche. I never could find a handbag that met my preferred size or needs. Taking a trip to Europe, I created a small handbag that would hold my passport, credit and ID cards easily accessible, a magnetic outside pocket for my phone (but could fit inside also), a detachable crossbody strap, keys, and chapstick. Once the design was tweaked then color became a challenge. So many choices!!! So at that point Cottage Rabbit came into existence with the creation of small handbags that could be used with the strap, or strap removed and thrown into a larger market bag or college backpack. A small handbag but BIG on functionality!! Colors and themes that make you want more than one for different occasions, seasons, or special gifts. College students love the small size for backpacks!!
With my daughters attending college simultaneously, I ventured into fabrics further, making lap size quilts students could easily carry around and stay warm while studying. 45 x 60-inch quilts became another item in the Cottage Rabbit shop. That color the student just loves and feels warm and comfy. Or the college colors! Special ordered baby quilts designed to match the nursery and with the warm flannel on the back! Lap size for that special grandparent who feels colder and receives that warm gift of love.
So where is the Cottage Rabbit in all this? Well, he sits on my baby grand piano patiently waiting to be dressed in his shirt, vest, tie, and formal jacket. Porcelain head, hands, and feet with a jointed fur body, glass eyes, and whiskers! He waits for the holidays to celebrate.
