¿Qué es Dose Cosmetics?
Dose fue creado a partir del deseo de tener productos cosméticos naturales, modernos y asequibles que no solo se sientan increíbles, sino que también sean beneficiosos para nuestra salud. Estamos descubriendo que las toxinas están en muchos productos, desde las fragancias que inhalamos hasta las lociones que aplicamos a nuestra piel.
Estaba optando por alimentos frescos y orgánicos, pero no me di cuenta de que muchos de los artículos de tocador que estaba usando estaban llenos de ingredientes sintéticos.
El problema era que todas las mantequillas corporales naturales que compré eran grasosas, los bálsamos labiales veganos eran duros y casi imposibles de aplicar en mis labios y los cosméticos naturales estaban sofocados con el papel kraft marrón y el bambú habituales, me encanta el bambú y el reciclaje, pero ¿por qué el cuidado natural de la piel no puede ser más divertido?
Entonces, ¿quién soy yo?
¡Mi nombre es Lucy, y comencé a hacer mis propios productos cosméticos y de tocador por pura casualidad! Estaba buscando un producto natural que ayudara a la artritis de mi abuela y no pude encontrar nada, así que terminé haciéndole un bálsamo para las manos con aceites naturales y extractos de hierbas. A ella le encantó y poco después comencé a recibir solicitudes de amigos y familiares. ¡Quería usar más productos naturales yo mismo, así que me encontré comenzando una empresa!
No ha sido fácil, tuve que volver a entrenarme por completo, desde aprender a hacer jabón, aromaterapia, herbolaria hasta cosmetología, pero realmente lo disfruté y la mejor parte es hacer productos que realmente ayudan a las personas, ¡es una sensación increíble!
Antes de hacer mis propios productos, descubrí que estaba atrapado en una trampa de marketing, todos los productos bellamente empaquetados que compré serían beneficiosos temporalmente, sin embargo, el efecto no duró mucho tiempo, estoy seguro de que puede relacionarse. Esto resultó en un cajón lleno de lociones y pociones medio vacías, una abolladura en mi cuenta bancaria y sintiéndome frustrado. Junto a esto, descubrí la aplicación Think Dirty que te permite buscar productos y te muestra su toxicidad. Me sorprendió descubrir que los pocos productos que reprendí eran bastante altos en la escala de toxinas.

¿Por qué dosis?
Elegí Dose porque es inusual, pero se originó de la palabra griega didonal que significaba 'dar' y más tarde a dosis que significa 'regalo'. Mi intención para este negocio es hacer productos que tengan mayor significado que los cosméticos cotidianos, son regalos, ya sea para ti mismo o para alguien que te importa. Como los ingredientes que uso también son beneficiosos para su salud, sentí que también era apropiado tener una "dosis" saludable de lociones y pociones.
¿Qué ofrecen?
Todos mis productos están hechos de ingredientes que están libres de toxinas, aceite de palma, sulfatos (incluido SLS) y ftalatos, también son libres de crueldad y veganos. Los he creado con dolencias particulares en mente, desde productos que pueden ayudar a aliviar el eccema hasta sueros que pueden ayudar al crecimiento del cabello.

What is Dose Cosmetics?
Dose was created from a desire to have natural, modern and affordable cosmetic products that not only feel amazing but are also beneficial to our health. We’re discovering that toxins are in a lot of products, from the fragrances we inhale to the lotions we apply to our skin.
I was opting for fresh and organic foods, yet didn't realise that many of the toiletries I was using were full of synthetic ingredients.
The problem was, all of the natural body butters I bought were greasy, the vegan lip balms were hard and almost impossible to apply to my lips and natural cosmetics were smothered in the usual brown kraft paper and bamboo, I love bamboo and recycling but why can't natural skincare be more fun?
So, who am I?
My name is Lucy, and I began making my own cosmetic and toiletry products by sheer chance! I was searching for a natural product that would help my grandmother’s arthritis and I couldn’t find anything, so I ended making her a hand balm with natural oils and herbal extracts. She loved it and soon after I started getting requests from friends and family. I wanted to use more natural products myself so I found myself starting a company!
It hasn’t been easy, I had to completely retrain, from learning soap making, aromatherapy, herbalism to cosmetology but I really enjoyed it and the greatest part is making products which really help people- it’s an amazing feeling!
Before I made my own products, I found that I was stuck in a marketing trap, all of the beautifully packaged products I purchased would temporarily be beneficial, yet the effect didn’t last for long, I’m sure you can relate? This resulted in a drawer full of half-empty lotions and potions, a dent in my bank account and feeling frustrated. Alongside this, I discovered the Think Dirty app which allows you to search for products and shows you their toxicity. I was surprised to find that the few products I rebought, were quite high on the toxin scale.

Why Dose?
I chose Dose as it’s unusual but it originated from the Greek word didonal which meant ‘to give’ and later to dosis meaning ‘gift’. My intention for this business is to make products that have greater meaning than everyday cosmetics, they are gifts, either to yourself or someone you care about. As the ingredients I use are also beneficial to your health I felt that it was also fitting to have a healthy ‘dose’ of lotions and potions too.
What do you offer?
All of my products are made of ingredients that are free from toxins, palm oil, sulfates (including SLS) and phthalates, they’re also all cruelty-free and vegan. I have created them with particular ailments in mind, from products that can help relieve eczema to serums that can aid hair growth.
Please note that I am not medically trained and the products in my shop are not pharmaceutical. They are only intended to aid health issues, not cure them. I recommend that you speak to your doctor before using new products from anywhere, particularly if you have a health issue or suffer from allergies.
