Estaba en la escuela primaria la primera vez que me leyeron El león y el ratón de Esopo, me senté entre otros treinta y tantos niños en una alfombra sucia en el este de Londres. Veinte años después, aprecio que la moraleja de la historia tenga mucho que ver con la igualdad, el empoderamiento y el respeto del papel de la sociedad, pero el mensaje para llevar a casa para el niño de cinco años fue ser amable y que te devuelvan la amabilidad, he hecho todo lo posible para vivir de acuerdo con eso desde entonces.
Como resultado de esto, ahora soy una pequeña alma generosa y sentimental, a menudo buscando regalos que inspiren fuerza y muestren aprecio por aquellos a quienes amo. Mientras estábamos en la universidad, mi mejor amigo y yo deslizábamos fotos y citas inspiradoras debajo de las puertas del otro, solo para traer una sonrisa. Me encontré con una carpeta de estos cuando me mudé a casa hace un año y me sentí abrumado por lo mucho que todavía me afectaban, y lo lejos que había llegado debido a esos pequeños actos de bondad, que no costaban casi nada, y de ahí vino Faith&String.
I was in primary school the first time Aesop's The Lion and The Mouse was read to me, sat amongst thirty-something other children on a grubby carpet in East London. Twenty years on I appreciate the moral of the story is very much to do with equality, empowerment, and respecting the role of society, but the take home message for the five year old me was to be kind and have kindness returned to you, I've done my best to live by it ever since.
As a result of this I am now a generous and sentimental little soul - often searching for gifts that inspire strength and show appreciation for those I love. While in University my best friend and I would slip inspirational pictures and quotes under each other's doors, just to bring a smile. I came across a folder of these when I moved home a year ago and was overwhelmed by how much they still affected me, and how far I had come because of those small acts of kindness, which cost next to nothing, and from there came Faith&String.
