From scientist to scribe..
Hi, my name is Jessica Gibson and I am the founder of Fluid Calligraphy a company that designs inspirational quotes, calligraphy wall art and gifts to inspire, motivate and help create a deeper human connection.
I work from my studio in the beautiful Surrey Hills in England. I have an Australian husband, a little boy and 8 chickens.
I first started doing calligraphy over 16 years ago in my spare time whilst studying for a PhD in microbiology. I found calligraphy so relaxing, almost meditational and it kept me sane during the very stressful times when I was studying. Shortly after I landed my first job in industry I made the very tough decision to leap into the unknown, follow my passion and start my own calligraphy business. It has been 12 years since then and I have never regretted my decision. Every day is different and I feel so lucky to be able to do the thing that I love for a living.
I love handwritten work, it inspires an undeniable response and in this digital age it brings us back to what makes us human. That 'perfectly imperfect' stroke of pen on paper, the translation of emotion into writing. I’m inspired by the simplicity of Danish design and the by colours and patterns I find in the countryside around me. I use modern as well as classical calligraphy styles to create clean, simple and timeless pieces to inspire, comfort and celebrate the human spirit.
I spend a great deal of time ensuring that the prints and stationery I create are of the highest quality and are as close to the original artwork as possible. This is very important to me as I believe that everyone should be able to afford to have a beautiful piece of handcrafted calligraphy in their home.
I hope you enjoy looking around my shop and if you would like to find out more or keep up to date with news and promotions please check out my facebook page and instagram account in the links below.
