Kids like rocks
Das alles begann Anfang letzten Jahres, als mein damals 4-jähriger Sohn beschloss, dass er "nach Steinen suchen" wollte. Ich fand heraus, dass das PNW ein erstaunlicher Ort für "Rock Hounding" war und wir waren mit einer Fülle von Orten umgeben, um nach großartigem Rohmaterial wie Achat, versteinertem Holz, Opal, Quarz usw. zu suchen. Bald hatte ich Kisten mit Rohmaterial in meiner Garage und ich versuchte herauszufinden, was wir mit all dem machen können. Der erste Kauf war ein Craigslist Rock Tumbler. Dies war der Beginn der Sucht. Nachdem ich gesehen hatte, wie gut diese Materialien eine Politur vertragen, entschied ich, dass wir sie auf die nächste Stufe bringen könnten, und ich benutzte eine Fliesensäge, um Formen zu schneiden.
Eines Tages schaute ich mir meinen Instagram-Feed an und sah diese erstaunlichen Titan-, Harz-, G10- und Stahl-EDC-Lanyard-Perlen auf Killer-Custom-Messern und ich wusste, dass ich etwas Ähnliches aus diesem Material machen könnte. Ich habe das erste erstellt und trage es seit ein paar Monaten. Jetzt versuche ich, den Prozess zu verfeinern und weiter zu machen. Ich werde sie dem Laden hinzufügen, sobald ich sie aus den Bechern holen kann.
This all started early last year when my then 4 year old son decided he wanted to "look for rocks." I found out that the PNW was an amazing place for "Rock Hounding" and we were surrounded with an abundance of places to look for great raw material including agate, petrified wood, opal, quartz, etc. Soon I had boxes of raw material in my garage and I was trying to figure out what we can do with all of it. The first purchase was a craigslist rock tumbler. This was the start to the addiction. After seeing how well these materials took a polish, I decided we could take it to the next level and I was using a tile saw to cut shapes.
One day I was looking at my instagram feed and was seeing these amazing titanium, resin, G10, and steel EDC lanyard beads on killer custom knives and I knew I could do something similar out of this material. I created the first one and I've been carrying it for a few months now. So now I'm trying to fine tune the process and continue to make more. I will be adding them to the store as soon as I can get them out of the tumblers.
