Luxury home decor with a Victorian Gothic Aesthetic
Hallo, ich bin Jo ... teils Hippie, teils Gothic und die gesamte Belegschaft und kreative Kraft hinter Patternorium, der Surface Pattern Company mit viktorianisch-gotischer Ästhetik und wunderbar einzigartigen Wohndekorprodukten. Ich habe 2014 meinen BA (Hons) in Mode und Textilien mit Auszeichnung an der University of Wolverhampton abgeschlossen und 2016 meinen MA in Angewandter Kunst mit Auszeichnung abgeschlossen. Ich habe den Dean’s Prize für meine Installation „Altered States“ gewonnen, die sich auf psychische Gesundheit und viktorianisch-gotische Bilder konzentriert und in der Wolverhampton Art Gallery gezeigt wurde. Zu diesem Zeitpunkt habe ich angefangen, Patternorium in Vollzeit zu leiten.
Ich entwerfe, fertige und verkaufe nicht nur meine eigene Produktlinie, sondern verkaufe auch Designs direkt an Hersteller, erschaffe öffentliche Kunstwerke, organisiere Veranstaltungen/Ausstellungen und leite Workshops. Ich halte auch Vorlesungen an der University of Wolverhampton in verschiedenen Kursen zu unterschiedlichen Themenbereichen, darunter Textilien und Oberflächenmuster, Siebdruck, CAD und das Modul „Kreativindustrien“, das die Gründung und Führung eines Kleinunternehmens, Logodesign und Branding umfasst. Außerdem unterrichte ich Design im Grundkurs und in Workshops für 14- bis 16-Jährige im Samstagsclubprogramm.
Ich habe es irgendwie geschafft, über 50 zu werden, worüber ich natürlich SUPER glücklich bin … (und jetzt ist Ihr Stichwort, mir zu sagen, dass ich nur aussehe wie 21 … tun Sie es … tun Sie es jetzt!) Und ich habe eine entzückende (ziemlich seltsame) und kreative Familie, mein Mann ist Schreiner und wir haben einen Sohn, der Künstler ist, und einen anderen, der Abitur macht (Kunst, Musik und Englisch), ein veröffentlichter Autor und Bassist in einer Band … ich weiß!
Meine Arbeit ist inspiriert von viktorianischen Geschichten, Folk-Horror, dunklen Märchen und makabren Elementen und immer konzeptgetrieben und forschungsorientiert. In all meinen Arbeiten mache ich dunkle Dinge mit Raffinesse und Liebe zum Detail schön. Ich bin auch Veganerin, die gerne trinkt, tanzt und Zylinder trägt. Das ist wichtig zu wissen!
Hellllllo, I'm Jo ...part hippy, part goth, and whole entire staff and creative force behind Patternorium, the Surface Pattern company with a Victorian Gothic aesthetic and gorgeously unique home decor products. I graduated from University of Wolverhampton with a First in BA (hons) Fashion and Textiles in 2014 and a distinction in MA Applied Arts in 2016, winning the Dean's Prize for my 'Altered States' Installation focusing on mental health and Victorian Gothic imagery, shown at Wolverhampton Art Gallery. That's when I began running Patternorium full time.
As well as designing, making and selling my own product line, I also sell designs direct to manufacturers, create public artworks, organise events/exhibitions, and run workshops. I also lecture at University of Wolverhampton on several different courses in a variety of subject areas including textiles and surface pattern, screen printing, CAD and the Creative Industries module which encompasses setting up and running a small business, logo design and branding and I also teach design on the Foundation course and workshops to 14-16 year olds on the Saturday club program.
I have somehow lived to be in my 50's! which I'm SUPER happy about obviously...(which is now your cue to tell me I only look 21...do it...do it now!) And l have a delightful (ly weird) and creative family, my OH is a carpenter and we have a son who is an artist and another doing A levels (Art, Music and English), who is a published author and a bassist in a band... I know right!
My work is Inspired by Victoriana, folk horror, dark fairytales and macabre elements, always concept driven and research focused. Making dark things beautiful with sophistication and attention to detail in all of my work…. I'm also a vegan, who likes drinking, dancing and top hats…it's important to know that!
