Mi nombre es Sunny y soy un artista canadiense-chino que vive muy cerca de las Montañas Rocosas de Alberta. Comencé a volver a leer en 2020 durante la pandemia de COVID-19, después de haber amado los libros cuando era adolescente, pero perder el hábito en mi adolescencia. Recuerdo claramente ir a la biblioteca cuando era adolescente y sacar pilas gigantes de Nora Roberts, esperando que la bibliotecaria no notara mi gusto por los libros (¡definitivamente lo hicieron!).
En 2020, estaba experimentando agotamiento corporativo en mi trabajo diario y la pandemia empeoró todo. Un amigo cercano me recomendó que leyera Donde cantan los Crawdads y pensé, ¿por qué no? Siempre me había encantado leer y necesitaba un descanso. Comencé leyendo romances contemporáneos como The Hating Game y Christina Lauren, pero luego sumergí mi dedo del pie en el romance histórico y me enamoré de Evie Dunmore, Lisa Kleypas y Julia Quinn. Finalmente recogí From Blood and Ash y A Court of Thorns and Roses, y el resto es historia.
Quería mostrar mi amor por el género a través de merchandising libresco, pero nunca pude encontrar exactamente lo que quería. Quería un ambiente #IYKYK que las personas no librescas aún apreciaran, pero que resonara de una manera súper especial con otras audiencias de libros. Así nació Rocky Mountain Printing Co. A principios de 2023, cambiamos nuestra marca a Narrative Threads.
La tienda está totalmente dirigida por mí, además de mi trabajo diario corporativo a tiempo completo no libre. Mi increíble esposo ayuda con la tienda cuando puede. Mi mezcla de laboratorio husky de 2 años, Fenrir (Fen, para abreviar) también trata de ayudar la mayoría de los días, ya que me apoya a través de grandes cantidades de ternura y baba. Tengo otras tres tiendas de Etsy además de esta, así que es agitado algunos días mientras trato de mantenerme al día. Todavía estoy aprendiendo y creciendo, pero una cosa en la que sé que puedo confiar es en esta maravillosa comunidad libresca que continúa inspirándome.

My name is Sunny and I am a Canadian-Chinese artist living in close proximity to the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. I started getting back into reading in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, having loved books as a teen but falling out of habit in my late-teens. I distinctly remember going to the library as a teen and taking out giant stacks of Nora Roberts, hoping the librarian wouldn't notice my taste in books (they definitely did!).
In 2020, I was experiencing corporate burnout in my day job and the pandemic made everything worse. A close friend recommended that I read Where the Crawdads Sing and I thought, why not? I had always loved reading and I needed a break. I started out reading contemporary romances like The Hating Game and Christina Lauren but then dipped my toe into historical romance and fell in love with Evie Dunmore, Lisa Kleypas, and Julia Quinn. Eventually I picked up From Blood and Ash and A Court of Thorns and Roses, and the rest is history.
I wanted to show my love for the genre through bookish merch but wasn't ever able to find exactly what I wanted. I wanted a #IYKYK vibe that non-bookish people would still appreciate, but would resonate in a super special way with other bookish audiences. Thus, Rocky Mountain Printing Co. was born. In early 2023, we re-branded to Narrative Threads.
The shop is fully run by me, in addition to my full-time non-bookish corporate day job. My amazing husband helps out with the shop when he can. My 2-year old husky-lab mix Fenrir (Fen, for short) also tries to help on most days as he supports me through copious amounts of cuteness and slobber. I have three other Etsy shops in addition to this one, so it's hectic some days as I try to keep up. I am still learning and growing but one thing that I know I can rely on is this wonderful bookish community that continues to inspire me.
