Very nice product. The walnut tree that covers the flask is beautiful. I recommend this article!
,…Looking for my smartphone protection, I was disappointed to carry it in something that worsens ist smart design. There were plenty of products imitating carbon, steel or leather on the market. I wanted to possess something pretty and functional. Something durable, well protecting my mobile, and simultaneously not giving it the excessive thickness and not limiting the possibilities of using additional accessories. I was born and brought up in the Owl Mountains. I knew that wood is a beautiful and refined material.
I decided to create an elegant and nature- inspired case…’
When at the beginning of 2014 I came up with an idea of a wooden case, I had no idea about the production, machines and technology. I designed a three- dimensional model of a case to iPhone 5 and printed it on the amateur 3D printer. First prototype was made of ABS, which was completely unsuitable for use and commercialization but gave shape and form of the product to which the road was far.
Next night, I manually prepared a piece of thin, well-dried wood and after having assembled the first temporary case, I knew I wanted to do it professionally.
I began to check different, usually unknown to me species of wood, which I treated preliminarily and observed them in terms of drying and shrinkage. Next task to perform was to select right material, both durable in terms of protection, as well as thin and light, in order not to thicken a mobile. In May, 2014, I went to Łódź, where we milled the forms from various plastics in the company developing prototypes. Finally, however, I decided to apply a high quality polycarbonate. ‘…’ In June, we bought first machines and built a chamber dedicated to lacquering. After working out mobiles, tablets and laptops of Apple, we decided to appreciate Samsung and introduced accessories to their flagship products, such as Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4 i Samsung Galaxy S5.
We wanted to go one step further very much and make products which would be unique and better than other. Together with my brother, Adam, we began to talk about the idea of combining many wood species into one product. The effect was so good that we couldn’t withdraw. Now our most complicated case is made of 71 elements.
Today, Smartwoods is a small polish brand which possesses the biggest range of high-quality products on the market in the most competitive prices and I am happy to share with people with something we can do the best. We have got many new ideas and I hope that along with the exchange of the’ personal technology’ you will remember about us.
