Small prints, heavyweight cotton, and no shouting
The Porch Light started with a small complaint: almost every seasonal t-shirt is shouting. A huge graphic across the whole chest, neon orange, a slogan you would only wear once. Fine for a party. Not something you reach for on a Tuesday in November.
So we make the other kind. The print is small and sits high on the chest, about six inches across - a row of little objects on a single line, the way an old apothecary label or a seed packet is set. Pumpkins and candles, a pie and a pair of oven mitts, ornaments and a string of lights. Close up you see what it is. From across the room it just looks like a nice shirt.
Everything is printed on Comfort Colors 1717: heavyweight garment-dyed cotton, 6.1 oz, no side seams, a sewn-in label instead of a scratchy tag. It comes out of the wash softer than it went in. We print direct to garment rather than pressing a film transfer on top, which costs more and takes longer, but on garment-dyed cotton it is the only method that looks right - the ink sinks into the dye and ages with the shirt instead of peeling off it.
There are three collections in the shop: Halloween, autumn and Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Each one comes two ways, as a single-colour line drawing or as a colour illustration, and every design is available in sixteen garment-dyed colours from Ivory to Black.
Nothing is made in advance. Your shirt is printed after you order it, in the United States, and sent straight to you - no warehouse, no boxes of unsold stock burned at the end of the season.
If something is not right when it arrives, message us. We would much rather fix it than have you wear something you do not love.
