Cómo empezó
How it began
Victory Patterns comenzó cuando una idea surgió en mi cabeza después de enseñar costura durante algún tiempo, ¡que podría ser una buena idea hacer patrones de costura para que todas estas encantadoras damas usen sus nuevas habilidades de costura encontradas! Siempre supe que quería tener mi propio negocio creativo y confié en esta idea más que en cualquier otra locura que hubiera pensado hasta ese momento.
Contuve la respiración y dejé mi trabajo como fabricante de vestuario y pasé los siguientes diez meses escribiendo un plan de negocios y desarrollando la primera colección de patrones. Cuando le dije a la gente "He renunciado a mi trabajo para hacer patrones de costura en PDF!!!" Me rascaban la cabeza y me arrugaban las caras y "¿whaaat's that?". Lo sé, es un nicho, ¡pero tenía la corazonada de que funcionaría! No soy una persona muy conocedora de la informática, así que busqué a tientas en el camino enseñándome a mí mismo a medida que avanzaba todo sobre cómo convertir un patrón físico en un patrón digital y todo tipo de misterios se desarrollaron lentamente. ¡Fue una aventura increíble y desafiante, y continúa siéndolo todos los días! Recientemente comencé a imprimir los patrones, por lo que ahora están disponibles tanto en PDF como en impresión. ¡¡¡Woohoo!!!
Afortunadamente, el pequeño mundo de la costura y el bricolaje está lleno de las personas más mágicas, amables y solidarias bajo el sol, y con tu apoyo he tenido tanta suerte de poder seguir haciendo lo que amo, ¡haciendo cosas que espero que te gustaría coser para ti!
Lo que más me gusta de hacer estos patrones es que fomentan la creación de ropa más sostenible y socialmente consciente. Ya sea que lo sepas o no, al hacer tu propia ropa y comprar menos moda rápida, ¡estás haciendo una pequeña parte para hacer de este mundo un lugar mejor! Espero que encuentres algo que te guste para ti. ¡Hazlo con cuidado y enorgullecerte de saber que cada puntada está hecha con amor por ti!

Victory Patterns started when and idea popped into my head after teaching sewing for some time, that it might be a good idea to make sewing patterns for all these lovely ladies to use their new found sewing skills! I always knew I wanted to have my own creative business and I trusted in this idea more than any other crazy thing I'd thought up until that point.
I held my breath and I left my job as a costume maker and spent the next ten months writing a business plan and developing the first collection of patterns. When I told people "I've quit my job to make PDF sewing patterns!!!" I would get a lot of head scratches and scrunched up faces and "whaaat's that?". I know, it's niche, but I had a hunch it would work out! I'm wasn't a very computer savvy person so I fumbled along the way teaching myself as I went along all about how to turn a physical pattern into a digital pattern and all sorts of mysteries slowly unfolded. It was such an amazing, challenging adventure, and continues to be every day! I recently started printing the patterns, so they're now available in both PDF and print. Woohoo!!!
Thankfully, the little world of sewing and DIY happens to be full of the most magical, kind and supportive people under the sun, and with your support I've been so lucky to be able to continue doing what I love, making things that I hope you'd like to sew up for yourself!
What I love the most about making these patterns is that they encourage the creation of more sustainably, socially conscious clothing. Whether you know it or not, by making your own clothes and buying less fast fashion, your doing a small part to make this world a better place! I hope you find something that you like for yourself. Make it with care and take pride in knowing that each stitch is made with love by you!
