Ich bin in der Metropolregion Portland geboren und aufgewachsen und habe hier mein ganzes Leben gelebt, mit Ausnahme von zwei übermäßig ereignisreichen Jahren in Hollywood vor etwa 20 Jahren.

Ich habe mehrere Jahre formale Design- und Kunstausbildung, aber vieles von dem, was ich weiß und täglich verwende, wurde durch unabhängiges Lernen gelernt, und in meinem Buch ist das wirklich der beste Weg, um zu lernen. Ich mache seit 1996 Grafikdesign und war von 2007 bis etwa 2017 Vollzeit-Freelancer. Ich wurde für ein paar Jahre durch eine scheinbar endlose Reihe von persönlichen Rückschlägen ins Abseits gedrängt, aber ich habe das letzte Jahr damit verbracht, die Dinge hinter den Kulissen wieder zusammenzusetzen. Jetzt trete ich wieder mit einer neuen Perspektive auf das Leben heraus und suche nach neuen Abenteuern, sowohl beruflich als auch persönlich.

Meine Arbeit ist stark von vielen der Kunstbewegungen des zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts beeinflusst, insbesondere von Mid-Century Modern (MCM), aber auch von Schattierungen von Art Deco / Streamline Moderne und gelegentlich von Jugendstil. Ich finde überall Inspiration - Architektur, Geschichte, Musik, Bücher, Filme, aber ich bin besonders fasziniert von Tonnen von ausgefallenen kulturellen Elementen der Vintage-Americana: Tiki, Pinups, Burlesque-Shows, Nebenshows, geschrumpfte Köpfe, Film Noir, Autokinos, Oldtimer und Trailer, Vintage-Schmutz, klassische Horrorfilme, alte Schilder, seltsame Attraktionen am Straßenrand und dergleichen. Das macht meine Arbeit für viele Vintage-Enthusiasten und Retrophile sowie für diejenigen der Rock-n-Roll-Überzeugung attraktiv.

I was born and raised in the Portland metropolitan area, and have lived here my whole life with the exception of two overly eventful years in Hollywood about 20 years ago.

I have several years of formal design and fine art training, but much of what I know and use daily has been learned through independent study, and in my book that really is the best way to learn. I've been doing graphic design since 1996, and was a full-time freelancer from 2007 to about 2017. I was sidelined for a few years by a seemingly endless series of personal set backs, but I've spent the past year putting things back together behind the scenes. Now I'm stepping out there again with a new perspective on life, and looking for new adventures both professionally and personally.

My work is strongly influenced by many of the art movements of the twentieth century, especially Mid-Century Modern (MCM), but also shades of Art Deco/Streamline Moderne, and an occasional bit of Art Nouveau. I find inspiration all over the place—architecture, history, music, books, movies, but I'm especially fascinated by tons of off-beat cultural elements of vintage Americana: tiki, pinups, burlesque shows, side shows, shrunken heads, film noir, drive-in movies, classic cars & trailers, vintage smut, classic horror flicks, old signs, weird roadside attractions and the like. This makes my work appealing to many vintage enthusiasts and retrophiles as well as those of the rock-n-roll persuasion.
