This is a pastel portrait. A portrait painting of a nice couple. A wedding portrait.
To do my children's portraits and my Pastel portraits in general, I use the better Pastel bars like Schminke, Rembrandt, Senellier and the best materials.
All the custom portrait samples you can see in my shop come from real persons who commissioned a Pastel portrait from me.
I always start an open dialogue by mail with my clients to know exactly what they want and what their needs are.
The pictures are very important to make a good portrait (a portrait from a photo). Better the picture, the better the final result. I usually ask my clients to send me different images of the subject so we can choose together the better one. This also allows me to get better into the subject's personality. A smile is not always required In order to make a good portrait painting. But the lights, size, and colors in the picture are very important. It's not the same light needed for a child portrait as the light for an old man or lady. Big-size pictures or digital files allow me to get into the details more than small images.
The most common sizes I use on my paintings are 19,5 x 19,5 inches (50 x 50 cm) for a single portrait, or 19.5 x 27,5 inches (50 x 60cm) for a double portrait. In any case, the picture usually defines the size, so the sizes are guidance measures. If you need a special size or requirements just let me know.
Once the portrait is finished it is sprayed with a professional Pastel Fixative, which will protect the painting for years to come. Then it is very well packaged and protected for shipping.
The process to make a single Pastel Portrait takes between one to two weeks but I have my working agenda prepared for the next one or two months ahead. Sometimes I am overbooked, so it could take a little more. In any case, if you need the painting for a special day or occasion, please let me know so I can adapt my agenda for you and make the portrait on time.
I do not charge in advance for "Simple Head and shoulders portraits".
Prior to mailing your portrait, I will send you a digital photo for your review. This is your chance to suggest any changes and comment on the portrait. If you are satisfied with the portrait after viewing the photo you can make the payment.
For other commissions like "Half body portraits", Large size portrait paintings, Very detailed portraits, Double portraits, etc. a 50% (non-refundable) of the budget is required in advance.
But PLEASE, be very sure you really want to commission a Pastel portrait from me before starting the project. And that you really like the picture we are choosing for the work. The expression, the color, the composition, etc.
I don´t want to lose my time or yours, and I take my work and art very seriously.
There is no point in commissioning a portrait from me if you have practical or emotional doubts about me, my style, the photo, or my artistic capabilities.
