He tenido una cuenta con Etsy desde 2011, pero no comencé a vender hasta octubre de 2015.
Teniendo en cuenta que no tengo hijos, es bastante irónico que diseñe mantas para bebés. He sido tejedora desde que era una niña, pero me he vuelto bastante buena en eso. Comencé a hacer mantas para bebés, para compañeros de trabajo, hace unos 5 años (he regalado alrededor de 110 hasta ahora), pero debido al hecho de que nunca he creado nada a partir de un patrón, tejí o ganchillo mantas que pensé que se veían bien. Una de esas compañeras de trabajo, una mujer muy profesional y sorprendente, acababa de dar a luz a su segundo hijo. Cuando le di la manta para bebés, que era increíblemente hermosa (pero simple) de hacer, proclamé que nunca podría hacerlo ella misma. Le hice una apuesta de que podía dibujar un patrón, enseñarle algunas técnicas básicas de tejido y ella podría hacerlo. En un mes, hizo una manta propia. Ella regresó y dijo que debía hacer patrones y venderlos porque había hecho un patrón tan simple que incluso ella podía hacerlo. Dado que básicamente hago una forma de diseño gráfico profesionalmente, sonaba como una opción válida. Fue entonces cuando me topé con la función en Etsy para vender descargas digitales ... * bombilla *! Después de una extensa investigación, junto con prueba y error, creé un patrón comercializable y profesional que no me avergonzaría vender.
El nombre "Cape Cod Stitchery" no fue tan difícil de encontrar; "Cape Cod" es porque vivo en Cape Cod y "Stitchery" es porque pensé que sonaba "New England-y"... ¡así nació Cape Cod Stitchery!
He tenido un éxito relativo en ello, y he recibido grandes elogios por los patrones que produzco. Sigo haciéndolo porque me encanta tejer y todavía me sorprende que pueda ganar dinero con ello. ¿No es Internet increíble? ¡Gracias, Etsy!

Considering that I don't have children, it's quite ironic that I design baby blankets. I've been a knitter since I was a child but I've become fairly good at it. I started making baby blankets, for co-workers, about 5 years ago (I've given away about 110 so far), but due to the fact that I've never created anything from a pattern, I knitted, or crocheted, blankets that I thought looked nice. One of those co-workers, a highly professional and amazing lady, had just given birth to her second son. When I gave her the baby blanket, which was an incredibly beautiful (but simple) to make, so proclaimed that she could never do that herself. I made her a bet that I could draw up a pattern, teach her some basic knitting techniques, and she could do it. Within a month, she made a blanket of her own. She came back and said that I should make patterns and sell them because I had made a pattern so simple that even she could do it. Since I basically do a form of graphics design professionally, it sounded like a valid option. That's when I stumbled on the feature on Etsy for selling digital downloads...*light bulb*! After extensive research, along with trial and error, I created a marketable and professional pattern that I wouldn't be embarrassed to sell.
The name "Cape Cod Stitchery" wasn't as hard to come up with; "Cape Cod" is because I live on Cape Cod and "Stitchery" is because I thought it sounded "New England-y"...thus Cape Cod Stitchery was born!
I've had relative success at it, and have gotten high praise for the patterns I produce. I keep doing it because I love to knit and I'm still astonished that I'm able to make money at it. Isn't the internet awesome? Thank you, Etsy!
