Laugh and Belly started in 8th July 2016, right after Si's 20th birthday. She went to a local Singaporean art market to test the waters. Her only goal was to make people laugh together with silly word play and inoffensive jokes. After receiving positive feedback from the crowd, she never regretted going to the art market.
Since the age of 14, Si has illustrated witty birthday cards for her friends. Her friends never threw away the cards because of its message. Then, she realized that card-giving is really meaningful and words are so powerful.
The puns you see on the cards are almost always inspired by her conversations with friends, latest trends, what we do everyday and the food she eats.
Whenever people giggle in their heads or laugh out loud, she gets the feeling of 'Mission Accomplished'. Thus, it's never boring to sell them at art markets when she sees strangers commenting on how smart the joke was.
Si would take leaves from her full-time job as a Chemist just to head to the art market to sell her creations. While doing this, she was noticed on the local newspaper, The Straits Times, and the government's community sector. This continued for a full year, till Si decided to leave her full-time job and become an artist.
