How it all started...))

My name is Tatiana, I was born, live and create in Moscow, Russia. Despite the common belief it's not always winter here and bears don't walk the streets, maybe just a few (kidding;). One morning jogging in a park I did run into an elk but seeing my anime-sized eyes it behaved rather friendly so I guess this incident should only speak in favour of my native city)

I've always had a passion for fashion and color. Well, there is one more - for shoes but I keep this one a secret because if my husband finds out how much I spent on those, he will either divorce me or have a heart attack;) Love you, honey!

With all this background combined with a love for reading I came across an Olympia Le Tan clutch in some fashion magazine. My budget refused even to discuss this so I became obsessed with a question how to make a book clutch myself (for a person with almost no sewing experience and absolutely no embroidery skills it might seem like a crazy idea). I googled several DIYs but didn't quite like the results they offered. And so my evil mind started thinking how to fill the book clutch gap in my heart without tearing apart any actual book.

I've spent several sleepless nights looking through years of Olympia Le Tan's blog to find out more about her process and supplies she used. I started practicing embroidery. Lots of wasted thread and countless needle pricks later I finished my first clutch. It wasn't perfect but it still left all my friends speechless. Everyone asked me to make one for them and so the idea of opening a shop was born.

I love making clutches whenever I am not busy with my three little kids and I'm really fascinated by the process. Transferring a picture onto a canvas with the means of only felt and thread is kind of a challenge but a really exciting one. Every project teaches me something new and helps me continuously polish my embroidery skills.

Sometimes people ask me about my shop's name 'Mrs.Chaplin' and how I came up with it. I wish I had a fascinating story about that (and maybe someday I will make one up;) but the truth is - I don't remember;)) I prefer to think of the 'Mrs' part as a referral to someone like your favorite grandma knitting in front of a fireplace while 'Chaplin' is a synonym of something both classic and fun.

Hope you'll find something for yourself or your loved ones in my shop. Thanks for stopping by))

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalized orders

I'm happy to take custom orders. To discuss a possibility of turning a particular cover into a book clutch please contact me.

The clutch can be personalized by embroidering your (or your gift recipient's) initials on the back cover of the clutch. Or feel free to come up with your own idea of what you want to be embroidered there. Maybe your favorite quote from this book? If the text is up to 2 lines - it will be embroidered for free, each additional line is $10.

Gift wrapping and packaging

If your order is meant as a gift I am happy to send it directly to the recepient. I will nicely pack your order and include a gift note at no extra charge. I will send you pictures of the book clutch and the packaging before shipping it out.

Processing time

The time I need to fulfill an order varies depending on the complexity of the cover design as well as the number of other orders I have at the same time. To know about the current processing time please contact me or check the shop announcement (the text below the featured items on my shop's main page). If you need a clutch by a specific date, make sure to mention it.
