Rustic Trails is a dream come true!
Nuestra familia ha estado en el negocio de la agricultura y la ganadería durante más de 30 años y nuestros abuelos antes que nosotros también se dedicaron a la agricultura y la ganadería. Se podría decir que hemos heredado nuestro amor por la tierra y su belleza. Después de una compra reciente de una propiedad de veinte acres llena de hermosos pinos y tierra fértil, nació una visión. Lo siguiente es un poco de historia para llevarlo a donde comienza Rustic Trails.
A lo largo de los años, Marquita ha tenido una amplia gama de intereses y es una desarrolladora de corazón. Después de tener hijos, se mudó de Dallas a un pequeño pueblo del este de Texas, Mineola, y abrió un negocio minorista de antigüedades. Como madre soltera, esto le dio un poco más de flexibilidad ya que podía contratar a alguien para que trabajara en la tienda mientras ella se ocupaba de las necesidades de sus hijos pequeños. Vendía todo tipo de cosas vintage, proporcionaba fiestas de té para niñas pequeñas, pintaba murales, decoraba casas y eventos, y creaba pantallas de lámparas personalizadas. Durante parte de este tiempo también dirigió un pequeño bed and breakfast. Después de que sus ventas en línea comenzaran a despegar, vendió tanta bisutería que un día se agotó y tuvo que encontrar algo nuevo que hacer con sus talentos. En ese momento, Marquita pasó a la educación y volvió a la escuela para recibir su Maestría en Sistemas de Información y Tecnología de Aprendizaje.
Marquita ha podido participar en una variedad de áreas de educación utilizando su pasión por el desarrollo y sus habilidades tecnológicas. Esto incluyó ayudar a desarrollar y ejecutar un gran programa de educación al aire libre durante 10 años en Sky Ranch, Inc. Actualmente es administradora del distrito de Mineola ISD, donde comparte su vasto conocimiento de tecnología educativa con maestros ayudándolos con el cambio al aprendizaje digital. Se ha presentado varias veces para TCEA, los Centros de Servicio de las Regiones 7 y 8, y otros a lo largo de los años. Su pasatiempo durante los últimos 15 años ha sido recolectar y cultivar hierbas silvestres y plantas editables, así como cultivar hierbas domesticadas.
Marquita no podría hacer esta empresa sin la ayuda de su esposo Don. Don comparte generosamente sus talentos en la construcción y la ganadería. Comenzó a construir cuando era niño, y su amor por diseñar y construir lo inspiró a ingresar a la industria de la construcción. Era propietario y dirigía un gran negocio de construcción y techado de tejas de madera que viajó por los Estados Unidos hasta que casi se jubiló hace unos años. En su "tiempo libre" también manejaba su rancho que consistía en caballos, vacas, gallinas y un jardín todos los años. Desde que se jubiló, ha dedicado la mayor parte de su tiempo al rancho y realiza pequeños trabajos de contratación que inspiran su creatividad. Además, es pastor de una pequeña iglesia local, HIS Church.
Con amor por la tierra, la agricultura, la ganadería, la recolección, el reciclaje y la reutilización, nació la visión de Rustic Trails. Originalmente, el plan era simplemente comenzar una pequeña cama y desayuno. Sin embargo, hubo provisiones enormes en la nueva propiedad y una visión ampliada ha comenzado a explotar. ¡No podemos esperar a ver a dónde va! Lo mantendremos informado sobre todo lo relacionado con Rustic Trails mientras viajamos por este increíble sendero. ¡Nos alegra que nos acompañe en esta aventura familiar!
Our family has been in the Farming and Ranching business for over 30 years and our grandparents before us were also in farming and ranching. You could say we have inherited our love for the land and its beauty. After a recent purchase of a twenty acre property full of beautiful pines and fertile soil, a vision was born. The following is a little bit of history to bring you to where Rustic Trails begins.
Over the years, Marquita has had a broad range of interest and is a developer at heart. After having children, she moved from Dallas to a small East Texas town, Mineola, and opened a vintage retail business. As a single mom, this gave her a little more flexibility as she could hire someone to work in the shop while she took care of her young childrens' needs. She sold all things vintage, provided little girl dress up tea parties, painted wall murals, decorated homes and events, and created custom lampshades. During part of this time she also ran a small bed and breakfast. After her online sells began to really take off, she sold so much costume jewelry that one day she burned out and had to find something new to do with her talents. At this point Marquita moved into education and went back to school to receive her Master's in Information Systems and Learning Technology.
Marquita has been able to participate in a variety of areas of education using her development passion and her technology skills. This included helping to develop and running a large Outdoor Education program for 10 years at Sky Ranch, Inc. She is currently a district admin for Mineola ISD where she shares her vast Instructional Technology knowledge with teachers helping them with the shift into digital learning. She has presented multiple times for TCEA, Region 7 and 8 Service Centers, and others over the years. Her hobby for the last 15 years has been foraging and wildcrafting herbs and editable plants, as well as growing domesticated herbs.
Marquita could not do this venture without her husband Don's help., Don is generously sharing his building and ranching talents. He started building as a child, and his love for designing and building inspired him to go into the construction industry. He owned and ran a large construction and wood shingle roofing business that traveled across the United States until he semi retired a few years ago. In his "spare time" he also ran his ranch which consisted of horses cows, chickens, and a garden every year. Since he semi retired, he has devoted most of his time to the ranch and he takes on small contracting jobs that inspire his creativity. In addition, he is the pastor for a small local church, HIS Church.
With a love for land, farming, ranching, foraging, recycling, and repurposing, the vision was born for Rustic Trails. Originally the plan was to just start a small bed and breakfast. However, there were enormous provisions on the new piece of property and an expanded vision has begun to explode. We can't wait to see where it is going!
