More than Restless

"I am mentally ill. I can say that. I am not ashamed of that. I survived that, I'm still surviving it, but bring it on. Better me than you." C.F.

My name is Sarah and I am the creator of Restless Relics Co.I am a wife, a mother, and a woman living with Bipolar Disorder. Art is therapy for me. To create calms my restless mind. I am self-taught, and still learning every day. My studio space is my happy place. My pieces are made day by day, bit by bit. Quite often with a dog by my feet and a child at my side, and occasionally one on my lap as well. Bipolar disorder, also often refereed to as 'Manic Depression', is the driving force behind Restless Relics Co. I hope to shed a positive light on mental illness, and I hope you find enjoyment in my creations. Thank you for taking the time to explore my shop!

By purchasing from this shop you are supporting a family. We thank you!

Additionally a portion of all purchases from this shop will be donated to the International Bipolar Foundation.

"Bipolar disorder, also known as manic-depressive illness, is a brain disorder that causes unusual shifts in a person’s mood, energy, and ability to function. Different from the normal ups and downs that everyone goes through, the symptoms of bipolar disorder are severe. They can result in damaged relationships, poor job or school performance, and even suicide. But there is good news: bipolar disorder can be treated, and people with this illness can lead full and productive lives.

About 5.7 million American adults, or about 2.6 percent of the population, age 18 and older in any given year, have bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder typically develops in late adolescence or early adulthood. However, some people have their first symptoms during childhood, and some develop them late in life. It is often not recognized as an illness, and people may suffer for years before it is properly diagnosed and treated. Like diabetes or heart disease, bipolar disorder is a long-term illness that must be carefully managed throughout a person’s life (National Institute of Mental Health)."
