Classic Vintage Leather Watch Strap, Black

The Classic Vintage Watch Straps are made from selected hides of naturally tanned leather from local tanneries in Sweden. All Micael Wahlberg straps are handmade and hand-stitched with saddle stitching with marked stitches by the lugs and buckle. It has a distinctive handmade and raw look.

They have a lovely 60’s-70’s vintage look and fits watches with 20, 22 or 24 mm lugs. They go really well with watches from e.g. Rolex, Panerai, Tudor, Omega, Longines, and Breitling.
 
All Micael Wahlberg straps are custom-made for the highest possible quality. Featuring premium materials and craftsmanship, some are made in limited numbers only. All straps come with a polished or brushed buckle. We stock three sizes, small, medium and large.

Saddle stitch
Saddle stitching is the benchmark for handmade stitching of any kind. Saddle stitching by hand requires more than one meter of cord in the average length strap, two harness needles, two hands and a keen eye. An average strap has over 100 individual handmade stitch holes. A saddle-stitch offers a unique look that is to be found on very few products of today. It has a distinctive handmade look.


Other benefits of the saddle-stitch:
- Offers both strength and character.
- The stitching will not unravel if one of the stitches are cut, unlike the lockstitch provided by a sewing machine.
- It is a much stronger stitch, which is why it has become the premium standard for all handmade leather.
- It adds character to the finished piece. It is neither perfect nor flawed.
- Each strap will vary slightly from one to the other, making each strap unique in its own subtle way.

- Length: Small 7/11, Medium 8/12, Large 9/13 cm.
- Width: 20/20 mm, 22/22 mm Or 24/24 mm.
- Thickness: ca 3-4 mm.
- Solid 316 stainless steel buckle with a screw-in bar for solid construction.
- Polished or brushed buckle.


Our Leather comes from Tärnsjö Tannery and is described by the tannery as follows:

The art of vegetable tanning leather is thousands of years old. Since 1873 Tärnsjö Garveri has been using these time-tested methods. Industrialization has allowed tanneries to offer standard hides at lower prices and many tanneries have chosen that path. We have not. Why?

Because the aesthetic of vegetable tanned leather is unparalleled and the patina that it develops with use over time cannot be produced any other way. It is also the only way to produce premium leather of desired quality while at the same time respecting our environment.
