These lapis lazuli dangle earrings are quite royal looking with their dark blue and 14k gold fill pairing, whereas the beaded gemstone circles make them look timeless. Each circle is made with 7 tiny and smooth lapis lazuli beads carefully wire wrapped in 14k gold fill wire and hung from 14k gold fill ear wires. Imagine this little pair as your something blue on your wedding day, maybe even together with a matching necklace.

LAPIS LAZULI
To start with, lapis lazuli is not a mineral, it is a rock type. The mineral that gives the lapis lazuli its characteristic dark blue colour is lazurite, which is the main component of lapis lazuli. Other minerals include pyrite and calcite, and usually some sodalite and haüyne as well. Since lapis lazuli contains several different minerals, it hardness varies depending on the mineral. But since almost all lapis lazuli jewellery only consists of the mineral lazurite and some specks of pyrite sprinkled in we work out of that. Lazurite has a hardness of 5-5.5 out of 10, whereas pyrite has a hardness of 6-6.5 out of 10. This means some care needs to be taken while wearing it, since the lazurite could get scratched if handled (very) carelessly.
