Meet the Owner

My name is Nydia and together with my son, Princeton, we created Bedside Glow Chakra Candles. I have always had a strong affinity for beautiful scents. I love when my home has the aroma of the season and because of this, I’ve always purchased a variety of candles. As a first-time mom, I did a ton of research on what toxins were in my home and I found that the thing I loved the most in my home, candles, had been really toxic for me. I just knew I could not continue burning these paraffin-based candles in my home with my newborn son. After Princeton was born, I decided soy-based candles was the way to go. After he would go to sleep, I would relax in my bedroom with a candle lit at my bedside and read. The glow of the candles would be soothing and from this, the name ‘Bedside Glow’ was born.

Prior to starting Bedside Glow Chakra Candles, I went to school for yoga and immersed myself in Ayurvedic Medicine. I also studied Chinese Medicine in which I earned a Doctorate in Acupuncture. Similar to being a western medicine doctor, eastern medicine doctors have the same curriculum with the addition of studies of herbs and their effects on the body as well as Acupuncture points. Using the knowledge from both Ayurvedic Medicine and Chinese Medicine, I created fragrances that not only are aromatically appealing but also provide some health benefits.

My hope is that you enjoy the fruits of my labor of love as much as I love creating them.

Why we use Soy Wax for our Chakra Candles

• Cleaner burn- there isn’t any petrol-carbon soot like you get from petroleum-based paraffin candles. Also, there aren’t any toxins, carcinogens or pollutants which means it's least likely to trigger allergies
• Longer lasting- Soy wax burns cooler which means that you can enjoy your soy wax candle for generally 30-50% longer than a paraffin candle.
• Our wicks are lead and zinc free- They are made from 100% cotton making them eco-friendly

Things to note:

Since we strive to make candles that are eco-friendly and non-toxic, you may experience some imperfections. You may also experience a lighter fragrance while lit (hot throw) because we moderate the amount of fragrance oils used to ensure they don’t release toxins into the air.
