Grundare, The Card Collective
Jag började samla kort i grundskolan, mestadels Pokémon och Magic: The Gathering. Liksom de flesta samlare förvarades allt i pärmar. De är perfekta för att hålla hela set organiserade, men det innebar också att de bästa korten oftast låg undanstoppade om inte någon bläddrade igenom sidorna. Jag gillade alltid att visa vänner korten jag var exalterad över, och med tiden började jag önska att det fanns ett bättre sätt att faktiskt ha dem framme där man kunde se dem.
Den idén utvecklades så småningom till The Card Collective. Jag började bygga ramar till mina egna kort och tillbringade månader med att prototypa olika designer, förfina ramkonstruktionen och belysningen tills det kändes rätt. Pärmar är fortfarande användbara för kompletta samlingar, men dessa upplysta ramar är avsedda för de kort som betyder mest för dig, de du vill se varje dag.
För mig inkluderar det min Magic: The Gathering Phyrexia: All Will Be One Oil Slick-variantsamling.
Det är den typen av set jag vill se och njuta av, inte ha gömt i en pärm.
Founder, The Card Collective
I started collecting cards in primary school, mostly Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering. Like most collectors, everything lived in binders. They’re great for keeping full sets organized, but it also meant the best cards were usually tucked away unless someone was flipping through the pages. I always liked showing friends the cards I was excited about, and over time I started wishing there was a better way to actually have them out where you could see them.
That idea eventually turned into The Card Collective. I began building frames for my own cards and spent months prototyping different designs, refining the frame construction and lighting until it felt right. Binders still make sense for complete collections, but these illuminated frames are meant for the cards that matter most to you, the ones you want to see every day.
For me, that includes my Magic: The Gathering Phyrexia: All Will Be One Oil Slick variant collection.
It’s the kind of set I want to see and enjoy, not keep hidden away in a binder.
