Beginning of something wonderful
Hola, soy Jennifer, una orgullosa madre soltera de tres hijos maravillosos. Me apasiona el diseño gráfico, pero nunca tuve la oportunidad de seguirlo como carrera. Solía trabajar como cuidadora de personas con discapacidad, un trabajo que amaba, pero tuve que dejarlo cuando mi esposo enfermó y falleció. Fue el momento más difícil de mi vida y no sabía cómo seguir adelante. Necesitaba encontrar una manera de recuperarme de mi pérdida y también trabajar desde casa y cuidar a mis hijos.
Un día descubrí Etsy, un lugar mágico donde la gente puede vender sus productos creativos y hechos a mano. Me quedé impresionado por la variedad y calidad de los productos que la gente fabricaba y vendía. Pensé para mis adentros, ¿por qué no intentarlo? Tenía una computadora portátil y experiencia en diseño gráfico, y tenía muchas ideas en la cabeza.
Comencé creando mis propios diseños digitales para envoltorios de vasos, velas, botas, camisas, arte mural, agendas y más. Los subí a mi tienda de Etsy, a la que llamé "DistinctiveJava". Estaba nerviosa y emocionada al mismo tiempo. ¿A alguien le gustaría mis diseños? ¿Alguien los compraría?
Para mi sorpresa y deleite, recibí mi primer pedido en una semana. Era para una sudadera que yo había diseñado. ¡Yo estaba sobre la luna!
Ese fue el comienzo de mi viaje como vendedor de Etsy. Durante los siguientes meses, recibí cada vez más pedidos y solicitudes. Amplié mi gama de productos y mejoré mis habilidades. También me uní a algunas comunidades en línea de otros vendedores de Etsy, quienes me brindaron consejos, sugerencias y apoyo. Aprendí mucho de ellos e hice nuevos amigos.
He pasado los últimos meses construyendo mi tienda y disfrutando cada minuto de ella. Mis ventas realmente han comenzado a aumentar en las últimas semanas y cada día aumenta mi confianza en que realmente puedo vivir mi sueño mientras estoy en casa con mis hijos.

Hi, I'm Jennifer, a proud single mom of three wonderful kids. I have a passion for graphic design, but I never had the chance to pursue it as a career. I used to work as a caregiver for people with disabilities, a job that I loved, but I had to leave it when my husband fell ill and passed away. It was the hardest time of my life, and I didn't know how to move on. I needed to find a way to heal from my loss and also work from home and take care of my kids.
One day, I discovered Etsy, a magical place where people can sell their handmade and creative goods. I was blown away by the variety and quality of the products that people were making and selling. I thought to myself, why not give it a try? I had a laptop and a graphic design background, and I had a lot of ideas in my head.
I started by creating my own digital designs for tumbler wraps, candles, boots, shirts, wall art, planners and more. I uploaded them to my Etsy shop, which I named "DistinctiveJava". I was nervous and excited at the same time. Would anyone like my designs? Would anyone buy them?
To my surprise and delight, I received my first order within a week. It was for a sweatshirt that I had designed. I was over the moon!
That was the start of my journey as an Etsy seller. Over the next few months, I received more and more orders and requests. I expanded my product range and improved my skills. I also joined some online communities of other Etsy sellers, who gave me tips, advice, and support. I learned a lot from them and made some new friends.
I have spent the last few months building my store and enjoying every minute of it. My sales have really started to pick up the last few weeks and every day it builds my confidence that I really can live my dream while being home with my kiddos.
