About

Crochet Design & Vintage Inspiration

Thank you so much for visiting my shop. I am a crochet designer and I live in The Netherlands in my own lovely curio crafts room where I have surrounded myself with quite a bit of vintage home decor (hand) made in the bygone flapper era. I just adore the faded colors and velvety feel of so many 20s and 30s materials.

Over the years I have collected a large amount of vintage materials like lace, embroideries, feathers, millinery, all kinds of trim, yarn, buttons, fabrics and some costume jewelry too. My plan is to sell some of it in a second Etsy shop sometime in the near future. For now I am focusing on selling my hand-crafted crochet items inspired by the gorgeous vintage pieces in my curio crafts room, that is my living room.

Since I am in love with the feathery sumptuousness of peacocks and their art deco colors - they are just so of the roaring twenties ;-) - I decided to design my very own crochet peacock feathers. They are now all over my living room in different shapes, sizes and color combinations.

Thinking about what more to write for this profile, I suddenly realize that it is important to me to say something about what it means to create. To me, to feel joyful means creating beauty. I have always felt the need to create, to make something, in some form or another. Not necessarily crochet work - I only returned to that a few years ago - but just any creative project. Shaping my ideas into something visible and physical. I find that so magical. Taking photos, decorating my house, designing educational programs, creating an Etsy shop and, most recently, setting up my own business. This latest venture is the biggest creative challenge I have ever undertaken: a practice for mindful life coaching and HSP (Highly Sensitive Person) counseling.

Frequently asked questions
Can you send the PDF files by postal service when I have trouble downloading them?

No, it is not possible to have the PDF files sent to your home address. In order to open PDF files on your computer you need Adobe Reader, which you can download for free from the Adobe website. See the information included in the item descriptions.

Is it allowed to sell the items I make from your patterns?

Yes, it is. When you buy my original design patterns, feel free to sell the items that you make from them. You bought them, so do with the finished items what you want. I do want to ask you though that you credit me for the design with a link to my shop, especially when selling the items online: www.etsy.com/shop/thecuriocraftsroom

How does copyright on your patterns work?

You may print a copy of a pattern or keep a digital copy for personal use only. You are not allowed to reproduce or sell any of my patterns (either digitally or in print). Copies of any patterns/tutorials may not be posted online, either as a complete document or in part.

Yarn sellers: Do not print or digitally distribute patterns/tutorials with yarn sales or workshops without my permission as this is an infringement of copyright.

You are not allowed to pull pictures from the digital files and use them on your website without adding a link.

You can only translate my patterns for personal use but not to distribute or sell them.

The copyright of all of my patterns is protected by www.scheepjes.com

I thought that the digital pattern I bought would be in my own language but I have received an English version. How is that possible and can I get a refund?

I only sell patterns in English and Dutch. Sometimes Etsy automatically translates listings into the language of the country you registered with your account. This perhaps suggests to you that the pattern is also in your own language. However, if you read the listing description, it is clearly indicated that you are buying a pattern in English. Therefore, a refund is not possible.

After I placed an order, I noticed there is a coupon code for a discount. I didn't see it in time and now I haven't received a discount. Could I get a refund for the discount amount after I placed the order?

I'm sorry that you did not notice the coupon code before you purchased a pattern but I cannot give refunds for missed discounts. I will have sales on a regular basis though and always announce them on Facebook and Instagram.

I cannot seem to print the PDF I downloaded. Could you email the pattern in another format like a word document or as a jpeg?

I will check whether there is anything wrong with the PDF itself and if so, I will email a new PDF version to you. If there isn't anything wrong with the PDF itself, I'm afraid I won't be able to send the pattern in a different format.

I would like to use one of your designs to make a hat, blanket or cushion cover (or any item not detailed in the patterns themselves) with but I don't know exactly how to do this. Could you please give me advice or instructions how go about this?

I'm really happy that my designs inspire you to make other items with but I'm afraid that I cannot help you with construction advice or written instructions on elements that are not included in the patterns you bought. I understand that you're asking and hopefully you also understand that as a professional designer making a living from my design patterns, I have to treat requests for additional instructions as commissions with an appropriate fee attached.

Can I get a refund when by mistake I bought two of the same patterns or patterns that I did not mean te buy?

I only give refunds when I'm the one that made a mistake in your order. I'm afraid I cannot give refunds when you bought something by mistake because of the costs involved for me (refund fees). I'm more than happy though to let you choose another pattern from my shop to compensate for the costs you made. Please let me know which pattern you'd like and I will email it to you.
