The process starts with tending the sweetgrass beds in my back yard. -
In the next step I cut and air dry the grass in preparation for braiding or basket crafting. -
I then begin crafting the basket I have in mind by binding coils of grass with hemp twine stitching. -
Some of the baskets I craft are for practical uses like gathering eggs. Others are more whimsical. -
In 2018 I was awarded first place in the Best Fiber category at the Cranberry Festival in NJ.
