Announcement   Welcome to my humble shop of wooly things!

Everything in the shop is in stock and ready to ship immediately.
I cannot do custom orders for yarn at this time, but I do knit Gudrun mittens to order. Want a specific colour combination or size? Nearly anything can be arranged - just send me a message! Production time for custom order mittens is usually 1-2 weeks, but since they are hand knitted which is a process that cannot be sped up, delivery time may be longer at times. If this is the case I will let you know when you make a custom request.

I update regularly with both new colourways and old favourites, so be sure to check in from time to time!

About

Engineering stitches

I started knitting about a year into my engineering studies, to have something to occupy my hands during long lectures, as I found it helped me stay focused. I soon found myself intrigued by the science of knitting - the properties of the different stitches, the fibers and the techniques, and how they all came together to form shapes and structures. As an industrial design engineering student who had fallen in love with knitting, what else was there to do but become a knitwear designer?

In autumn 2014 I had to pause my studies due to health problems. I had just released Gudrun, a feminist mitten pattern, and amazingly, it spread beyond the knitting world. I started knitting mittens for non-knitters who still wanted to wear hand-knit mittens with a statement. And as I was knitting mittens, I got the idea that it might be fun to dye the yarn I used so that I could make each pair even more personal. It only took one dye bath to become addicted, and soon I found myself dyeing more yarn than I could ever possibly use up in a lifetime - thus the Etsy shop was born.

I make what I want to use myself, and that means I only use high quality yarn and dye. Still, this is a small-time hobby operation as I work on getting well enough to finish my degree. This means that shop updates will come as my health and inspiration allow. I don't plan on having regular colourways - everything will truly be one-of-a-kind. :)

I do take custom orders for Gudrun mittens. Most colour combinations can be arranged, and I can make them in any size. A custom order usually takes 1-2 weeks to produce plus shipping time. Since I hand knit them myself and this is a process that can't be sped up, production time will be longer if I happen to get a bunch of orders all at once. If this is the case I will let you know if you make a request.
