Vintage 1971 Simplicity sewing pattern for 2 purses & shoe spats #9553.

"Spats and Two Bags: The lined shoulder bag V1 with zipper closing is trimmed with appliques and metallic trims. The shoulder bag V2 with flap is lined. The spats V3 with zipper and elastic foot strap have special stitch lines to make spats larger or smaller. The spats may be trimmed with purchased appliques and metallic trim or with buttons and lacing."

This pattern has been used but is complete with all pattern pieces and instructions. The envelope has light edge wear and age-related discoloration.

McCall 1446 1940s Hat Pattern Beret Hat with Collar and Tie

In the 1940s hats were very popular for women and men. During the war years it was not considered unpatriotic to splurge on a hat but they were taxed at 33% as a luxury item.
It is understandable that women found ways to have a fashionable hat wardrobe at a lower cost by sewing them at home.

Here is a rare late 1940s pattern for a great looking beret hat that can be accessorized with a collar and tie.
All can be constructed with extravagent beading----or made unadorned on a quality woolen fabric with less work.

The pattern was featured in the 1949 summer issue of McCall Needlework Magazine.

Sized to 23 inch head circumference, the pattern is adjustable for 1/2 inch larger or smaller.

Full of beautiful advertisements and retro graphics, often quite frameable. They are a glimpse into the world of the "Modern" woman, in 1960. How to decorate your home, entertain, feed and dress your children, cook wonderful meals, and still be glamorous and well dressed! As a bonus, they included free dress patterns, unprinted, with full sewing instructions inside the mag.

July 1964

Includes 3 patterns, all unused, and factory folded:

-The Shirtwaist dress is for a 34 inch bust, with instructions for altering to a 36 inch bust
-The Jacket is for a 36 inch bust, with instructions for altering to a 34 and 38 inch bust.
-The Skirt pattern is for a 28 inch waist

Also included is a drafting pattern and instructions for the turban-style hat, illustrated on the cover, and a knitting pattern for a men's sweater.

This copy is in very good condition, with age-appropriate slight paper yellowing, name handwritten on front.

McCall's 1690 is a vintage 1952 Misses' hats and theatre bags pattern in Headsize 22 and is uncut and factory-folded. (Includes an original tissue advertisement for "Win a Trip to Paris".)

Includes three hats, two cloche and one close-fitting cocktail hat with veiling. Two theatre bags about 5" x 8" have hinged spring fasteners and different flaps.

Envelope is torn halfway down both sides, otherwise OK. I ship all patterns in a protective plastic ziploc sleeve.
