Acht jaar lang gaf ik in New York kookles aan stellen: sensuele kookworkshops, afrodisiacummenu's, de kleine details die van een dinsdagavond een onvergetelijke avond maken. Misschien heb je me wel eens gezien op Food Network, CBS of Married at First Sight.
Dit zag ik steeds weer terugkomen. Stellen die nog steeds dol op elkaar zijn, zitten naast elkaar te eten voor een scherm. Dezelfde tafel. Hetzelfde eten. Maar het is een totaal andere avond zodra je je stoelen naar elkaar toe draait, een vork met iets warms en glanzends aan het uiteinde omhoog houdt en de ander het daadwerkelijk ziet proeven.
