Objects Made for the Life Around Them
Deco Home Objects is a California-based design studio creating handcrafted textiles and objects for contemporary interiors. Our work begins with a designer’s understanding of space—how light enters a room, how a doorway frames a view, and how a single textile can quietly change the atmosphere of an everyday passage.
Our noren collection grew from time spent in Osaka studying traditional katazome paste-resist dyeing, noren sewing, and the patient handwork behind these enduring textiles. Through continued experimentation, we developed a distinct relationship between handwoven ramie, botanical color, and original imagery.
Our motifs are drawn from familiar rituals: garlic from the garden, coffee prepared slowly in the morning, vegetables gathered from a market, and evenings shared over fish, rice, and sake. Warm, lively, and sometimes quietly playful, each design brings traditional craft into contemporary life in a personal way.
Historically, noren marked the entrances of shops, restaurants, bathhouses, and homes. We carry that spirit forward by creating pieces that soften a doorway, divide a room, conceal a pantry, or become a welcoming shop banner. Variations in handwoven cloth, botanical dye, and katazome resist lines remain visible as traces of the process—evidence of the hands, time, and natural materials behind each piece.
