✏️ Martha holds a Bachelor of Education and Master of Counseling Education degree (Mississippi State University), and Will, a Bachelor of Political Science (Auburn University) and Master of Education (University of Memphis). Together, they have over 35 years of experience teaching middle school in the public city school system. In addition, Martha's core focus has been mainly on World Geography; although, she has experience teaching American History, Pre-algebra, Art, French, and Physical Education. Will's primary focus has been middle school Pre-Algebra and Algebra I, in addition to gifted and talented and ESL math classes. Both are experienced with mainstreaming students living with special needs into the classroom.
TEACHING STYLE
The basis of education is to assist in the development of students academically, emotionally, socially, and physically so that they will become functioning, influential citizens of our society as they reach adulthood. There are three types of learners: tactile, auditory, and visual. In addition, it is also important to determine a student's strengths within the 8 multiple intelligences: Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Bodily-Kinesthetic, Visual-Spatial, Musical, Naturalist, and Logical-Mathematical. I implement a hands-on/discovery approach to teaching/learning. If the student is actively engaged in the learning process and can claim ownership of what they have learned, success will be evident.
