Hand lettered with love, H A N D L E D with care.
Hi there! Thanks for stopping by. Kate Parochelli here and I'm the owner of the Handled Shop.
Born and raised in the sunny state of Florida, I escaped in my early twenties to spend a year and a half in Costa Rica (which will always be my second home) and then to Chicago to get my design degree and snatch my lifelong partner in crime, only to end up back to my old Florida stomping grounds. My hubby and I get to be the parents of the smartest lil' preschooler you've ever met (with the biggest heart), a feisty little redhead that keeps us on our toes, and a brand new babe that came in with the new year. I couldn't do what I do without the support of my family and the love of all-things-creative God has so graciously given me (and the occasional cup of coffee, of course). I pursue this little dream of mine called the "Handled Shop" when I'm not chasing toddlers or designing at my full-time graphics job at a local church.
I've always loved all things design - but lettering has taken a special place in my heart. I've been a doodler since I first held a pencil, a photographer since my mom first let me try out her Minolta (wow, was she brave!), and a creative soul since birth. My love for lettering came about when I was about 9 or 10, and I would so admire others' handwriting that I would try to emulate it any chance I got. I'd practice different handwriting styles for hours a day and poured over my mom's fancy lettering book for scrapbooking (the dots and swirls were my favorite!). My lettering has come a long way, but it still brings the same joy - I feel like a child again, curled up on the couch with my sparkle gel pens and notepads spread out on the tv tray and a world of possibilities just a pen stroke away. Lettering feels like home to me - and I'm inviting you in with the help of the Handled Shop.
I always imagined having my own little coffee shop to share all my little creations - and if you grab a cup and peruse my shop, it's basically the same thing! So take a virtual stroll and enjoy. Happy to have you!
Things I love:
Sweet tea (the southern kind), traveling, coffee (cold brew all day!), Jesus, Costa Rica (my second home), family, puppies, the Enneagram (9w1 here), guitar, magnolias, parenthetical statements (clearly), G2 Pilot Pens, board games, and hammocks... in no particular order!
