I’ve been hand lettering now for about eight years but 2020 has really helped me to gain some focus and find my own style.

Furloughed in April, I had an idea to create some colouring-in designs for people to take a mindful moment and enjoy some escapism.

Looking back at the ‘A’ now it looks really basic, but the idea of creating an alphabet was formed, and as I did each letter design, I managed to include more and more things.

The encouraging comments and suggestions to keep going with the project to complete the alphabet were amazing.

I kept sharing the designs, I set up a website, and I am pleased to say, I finished the year with two commissions for bespoke letters.

Nobody could have predicted how 2020 would pan out, but I will always be grateful that I had the time and clarity of mind during lockdown to find a groove.
