År 1973 öppnade jag ateljén med konceptet att skulpturer inte nödvändigtvis behöver gjutas i brons eller snidas i marmor och därmed bara vara överkomliga för de rika. Alternativa material och de allra senaste gjutningsteknikerna borde kunna göra skulpturer tillgängliga för nästan alla.
Under de senaste fyra decennierna har jag kunnat omsätta denna idé i praktiken och haft tillfredsställelsen och nöjet att se mitt arbete hitta sin väg in i hemmen hos bokstavligen miljontals människor.

När jag fortsätter detta koncept in i mitt femte decennium, erbjuder internet ett sätt att ta idén ett steg längre genom att få direkt kontakt med en myriad av människor, av vilka några redan är bekanta med mitt arbete, kanske samlare, andra för vilka det är nytt.

De andra drivkrafterna bakom mitt arbete har varit min kärlek till naturen och i synnerhet de vilda varelser som bebor den, och min önskan att se dem skyddade. Jag har alltid känt att den mest användbara användningen av mina förmågor är att skapa vackra och gripande återgivningar av dessa varelser som människor kan ta med sig in i sina hem och sina liv eller ge som present till andra vars empati för dessa varelser kan näras av deras närhet.

När jag närmar mig mina "mogna" år motiveras jag av en känsla av brådska att skulptera så många som möjligt av de vackra eller fascinerande eller utrotningshotade varelser som jag hittills har utelämnat, och även att skulptera om många av de verk jag skapade för årtionden sedan när jag precis började som skulptör.

Så i den här butiken hittar du en blandning av nyskapade plagg och andra som har funnits ett tag men som inte kommer att finnas tillgängliga särskilt länge till.

Back in 1973 I opened the Studio with the concept that sculpture need not necessarily be cast in bronze or carved out of marble and thus only affordable by the wealthy. Alternative materials and the very latest molding techniques should be able to bring sculpture within the reach of almost everybody.
During the past 4 decades I have been able to put this idea into practice and had the satisfaction and pleasure of seeing my work find its way into the homes of literally millions of people.

As I continue this concept into a fifth decade, the internet provides a means of taking this idea one step further by connecting directly to a myriad of folk some of whom are already familiar with my work, collectors maybe, others to whom it is new.

The other forces behind my work have been my love of the natural world and in particular the wild creatures that inhabit it and my desire to see them protected. I have always felt that the most helpful use of my abilities is to create beautiful and moving renditions of these creatures that people could bring into their homes and their lives or gift to others whose empathy for these creatures might be nurtured by their proximity.

As I head into my "mature" years, I am motivated by a sense of urgency to sculpt as many as possible of the beautiful or fascinating or endangered creatures that I have omitted so far and also to resculpt many of the pieces that I created decades ago when I was just starting out as a sculptor.

So in this store you will find a mixture of newly created pieces and others that have been around for a while but which will not be available for very much longer.
