It's always been a part of who I am...
I have been embroidering professionally for over 5 years, but before that I have been a professional seamstress my whole life! I got my first sewing job at 13, doing mending for a local thrift shop. From there I fell in love with period costumes and started teaching myself how to sew dresses for myself, my sisters, and my dolls :) By the time I graduated high school, I had my first Etsy shop! It was called The Modest Maiden, and I made and sold all sorts of costumes and clothing. I loved this shop, and made my living this way for quite a while.
Once my husband and I had children, I did find it hard to balance all the time with the kiddos, with all the time at the sewing machine.
Thus I gave embroidery a try! My sister introduced me to embroidery, as she had been doing it professionally for quite a while before I had. She got me my first 4x4 home embroidery machine, and I will never forget her part in my journey <3
It didn't take long for me to realize that this was the solution I had been looking for! I could make my designs while the children were napping, and then the machine could be working on stitching anytime during the day! It was a dream come true.
Anyone who knows me, knows that I "go big, or go home", haha. So within the first 6 months of embroidering on that little 4x4.... I purchased my first 15 needle commercial embroidery machine.
From there... it's been quite a ride! <3
