Vi är mytiska konstnärer som skapar skulpturala lädermasker och utsmyckningar för ditt liv. Vi hämtar vår inspiration från våra förfäders berättelser, myter och fabler, och moderna skapelser av stora fantasikonstnärer från förr och nu. Att skapa vår konst handlar om att ge form åt legender och myter. Varje saga vi berättar för våra barn är ett kulturellt arv som går tillbaka till våra förfäder. Genom att hitta mening och inspiration i modern myt och natur kan vi få kontakt med den intima relation våra förfäder hade med världen omkring dem, och fortfarande se framåt in i 2000-talet.
Leah Odom är en dotter från Maryland och Chesapeake Bay-området. Regionens rika miljö formade starkt hennes kärlek till naturen och vildmarken. Som tonåring fick hon arbete på MD Renaissance Festival där hon lärde sig att tillverka masker. Många år av detta arbete förberedde henne för att inleda en självständig karriär som "mummer". Leahs fortsatta passion för hantverk och skönhet har bidragit till att ge näring åt en fantastisk förmåga att fånga med pensel och målning de subtila nyanserna av en fjärilsvinge eller den överdådiga glädjen hos ett älvaansikte! Genom måleri uttrycker hon det djupa behov vi alla har av den kreativa handlingen.
Shane Odom är en infödd son till de karga och vackra landskapen i norra centrala Texas. När han deltog i sin första renässansmässa som barn visste han att han hade funnit sitt kall som hantverkare. Ett livslångt intresse för konst och design har lett honom till att utforska många medier och tekniker. En fortsatt kärlek till myter och legender ledde honom till en passion för masker och hans djupa dragning till bilden av den "gröna mannen" har bidragit till att skapa Beneficent Order of the Greenman, som uppträder vid evenemang runt om i landet.
Vi har varit verksamma sedan 1997 och känner att våra mångsidiga intressen och konstnärliga färdigheter, i kombination med en kärlek till allt kreativt, bidrar till en verkligt "Mixed" upplevelse.
We are Mythic Artists crafting sculptural leather masks and adornments for your life. We draw our inspirations from the stories, myths, and fables of our ancestors, and the modern creations of great fantasy artists of the past and present. Creating our art is about bringing legends and myths into form. Each Fairytale we tell our children is a cultural inheritance going back to our ancestors. By finding meaning and inspiration in modern myth & nature we can connect with the intimate relationship our forbearers had with the world around them, and still face forward into the 21st century.
Leah Odom is a native daughter of Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay country. The rich environment of the region strongly shaped her love for the outdoors and the wilds. As a teen, she found work at the MD Renaissance Festival learning the craft of mask making. Many years of this work prepared her to embark upon an independent career as a “mummer”. Leah’s continuing passion for craft and beauty has helped fuel an amazing ability to capture in brush and paint the subtle shades of a butterfly wing or the exuberance of a fairy face! Through painting she expresses the deep need we all have for the creative act.
Shane Odom is a native son of the ruggedly beautiful landscapes of north central Texas, When he attended his first renaissance faire as a child, he knew he had found his calling as a craftsman. A life-long interest in art & design has lead him to explore many mediums and techniques. A continuing love for myth and legend guided him to a passion for Masks and his profound attraction to the image of the “Green Man” has helped create the Beneficent Order of the Greenman who appear at events around the country.
We have been in business since 1997, and feel that our various interest and artistic skills, combined with a love of all things creative, help to round out a truly “Miscellaneous” experience.
