I nuovi progetti spesso iniziano con una serie di collage di carta fatti a mano che catturano stati d'animo, colori e forme. L'analogo taglio dà luogo a forme irregolari, messe in relazione tra loro da sovrapposizioni e forme negative. Queste illustrazioni servono come modello per modelli o motivi per maglieria. Vengono tradotti in tessuti riempiendo queste forme con vari materiali.
La mia tecnica di lavorazione preferita è l'intarsio. Anche sulla macchina per maglieria è un processo molto manuale e lavorare gli intarsi a mano significa che è necessaria molta pazienza per districare i gomitoli per tutti i campi di colore. Ne vale la pena, perché l'intarsio può creare una spontaneità e un'irregolarità con cui mi piace lavorare.
New projects often start with a series of handmade paper collages that capture moods as well as colours and shapes. The analogous cutting results into irregular shapes, which are set in relation to each other by overlays and negative forms. These illustrations serve as a template for patterns or knitting motifs. They get translated into textiles by filling these shapes with various materials.
My favourite knitting technique is intarsia. Even on the knitting machine it is a very hand manipulated process and knitting intarsia by hand means you need a lot of patience for untangling the balls for all the fields of colour. It is all worth it, because intarsia can create a spontaneity and irregularity that I like to work with.
