Building the Dream One Print at a Time
Välkommen till Stone Trigger Press. Min dröm var att bygga min egen grafikstudio i den höga öknen i norra New Mexico. År 2011 köpte jag ett litet stenhus från Craigs lista i Abiquiu och började bygga min studio av lera och sten från marken. Fönstren och dörrarna var alla återvunna. Min studio på 70 kvadratmeter, som vetter mot söder, värms upp och kyls av passiv solenergi och är upplyst av naturligt ljus, så det finns inget behov av elektricitet. I sann 1600-talsstil har jag handvevade etspressar, vackert ljus och fantastisk utsikt över bergen. Jag bygger drömmen om att leva heltid i öknen, ett tryck i taget.
En del av året är jag i New York där jag är professor vid institutionen för bildkonst vid Long Island University i Brooklyn, New York. Även om jag älskar Brooklyn är min verkliga dröm att flytta till New Mexico på heltid för att arbeta i min underbara studio, vandra på lederna, springa i bergen och åka skidor under vintern.
Welcome to Stone Trigger Press . My dream was to build my own printmaking studio in the high desert of Northern New Mexico. In 2011 I bought a small stone house off Craig's list in Abiquiu and began building my studio out of mud and stone from the land. The windows and doors were all salvage. My 750 sq ft studio, facing south is heated and cooled by passive solar is lit by natural light so there is no need for electricity. In true 17th century fashion I have hand crank etching presses, beautiful light and great mountain views. I am building the dream of living full time in the desert one print at a time.
Part of the year I am in NYC where I am a Professor in the Visual Arts Department at Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. While I love Brooklyn, my real dream is to move to New Mexico full time to work in my gorgeous studio, hike the trails, run in the mountains, and ski through the winter.
