Ein Vintage-Leben
A Vintage Life
Since I was a young child, I've been wearing secondhand clothing, sitting on used furniture and using any hand me downs that were given to my parents. They were great parents, and I had a great childhood, but they were definitely working class and struggled financially. I honestly didn't realize that we were poor until other kids started making fun of me because I wasn't wearing the latest cool jeans, shoes or backpack, kids are cruel, and I was embarrassed. Fast forward to high school when the punk rock movement came along and the most rebellious thing you could do was wear vintage clothing, I found my people!! I was a pro at shopping thrift stores and my new friends, and I spent many an afternoon searching dingy shops for our new wardrobes. This continued though out high school and I actually started selling vintage at local flea markets after graduating. fast forward again to moving out on my own, I discovered that I could decorate my apartments with really cool furniture and home goods for pennies on the dollar. As someone who has actually owned not one but two vintage leopard print couches, I was proud of my funky vintage decor and attitudes actually started to change, decorating with vintage had become a badge of honor. Today my life is full of beautiful and affordable vintage things, and I couldn't be happier. My love and the thrill of finding cool vintage continues only now I share my finds online and with you. As my tagline says, "Helping people strut their stuff one item at a time" and that's how Strutco was born
