Dyeing for Fun and a Little Bit of Profit
Comencé a incursionar en tintes cuando mi madre abrió su negocio de ropa tie-dye. Comencé a teñir mi propia tela para edredones y luego el teñido pasó a un segundo plano cuando descubrí el spinning. Estaba conduciendo un camión en ese momento y teñir NO era algo que me sintiera cómodo haciendo en la carretera.
Avance rápido unos años hasta Etsy y el cese de mi carrera como conductor. Tuve hijos y un renovado sentido de la creatividad en lo que respecta a los tintes, además de hilar mi propio hilo abrió el camino para TEÑIR la fibra para hilar. Eso fue de la mano con el teñido de hilo, y aquí estoy.
Todavía tejo y giro, pero la mayor parte de mi tiempo lo paso pastoreando niños y animales y teñiendo hilos. Hago pequeños lotes de jabón de vez en cuando y he comenzado a hacer marcadores de puntada.
¡Esta es una pendiente resbaladiza!
I began dabbling in dyes when my mom opened her tie-dye clothing business. I started with dyeing my own fabric for quilts then dyeing took a back seat when I discovered spinning. I was driving truck at the time and dyeing was NOT something I was comfortable doing on the road.
Fast forward a few years to Etsy and the cessation of my driving career. I had kids and a renewed sense of creativity where dyes were concerned, plus spinning my own yarn opened up the path to DYEING the fiber to spin. That went hand-in-hand with dyeing yarn, and here I am.
I still knit and spin, but most of my time is spent herding children and animals and dyeing yarns. I make small batches of soap occasionally and have begun to make stitch markers.
This is one slippery slope!
