Show off all the variations you have to offer with great photography. Now, you can link your listing photos to a specific variation so shoppers can see all the details for themselves. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Linking photos to your variations means shoppers can feel confident they know which option they’re choosing.

What shoppers will see

When a shopper makes a selection from the variations drop-down and chooses an option that has a linked photo, they’ll see the photo for their choice on the listing page and all the way through checkout. Let’s say a shopper looking at a listing for handmade headbands sees the fabric choices: denim, polka dots, or lace. When she makes a selection, we'll automatically show her the matching photo (that lace looks beautiful by the way). She’ll also see her selection in her cart at checkout, so she knows she selected the right option.

Why it’s great for you

Giving shoppers more details, in the form of great photos, means fewer questions about your different variations and less time spent trying to explain each option in your listing description. If you currently create your own photos to showcase your color options, or add text to your images to make clear what’s being shown, you’ll definitely want to link photos to your variations.

How it works

Any photo you’ve uploaded to your listing can be linked with any of your variations. While editing a listing, go to your variations section and click Link photos—then, choose from your existing listing images. If you want to upload a new image of one of your variation options, you’ll need to add that to the listing first and then link it to the variation. You can only link photos that are uploaded to a listing—the maximum number of listing photos you can add is 10. Learn more about listing variations.

This is a great opportunity to refresh all your listing photos. We suggest you upload photos that are at least 2000 pixels wide. Upload the largest photo you have and don’t worry about large photos slowing down the page—we’ll optimize it to make sure shoppers can see all the details.
