Want to open your own Etsy shop? Create your shop today!

This holiday season, we’re predicting that even more buyers will be supporting small businesses. Sharing regular updates on social media can help you build your brand’s following and reach shoppers while also increasing traffic to your Etsy shop.

We’re here to help you make the most of this unique opportunity this holiday season. Take part in Etsy’s #MakeItMeaningful holiday campaign and share the latest from your shop to bring buyers straight to your Etsy listings. We know this can be a busy time of year, so to make it as easy as possible, we’ve put together this social media calendar you can use to plan your promotions.

Etsy’s social media tool

Did you know you can share to your social media channels right from your Shop Manager? Etsy’s social media tool helps you create posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. We add Etsy-designed images to the tool that you can share when you post. We even include sample posts and hashtag ideas for when you’ve got writer’s block.

Throughout the holiday season we’ll add a new image to the tool at the start of each month designed to go with the suggested posts below. We'll send you a reminder too, so you don't forget to post.

Your holiday social media strategy

Sharing different types of content on your social media channels can help keep your followers engaged and coming back to your Etsy shop. Need some inspiration? We’ve mapped out a few ideas for each month.

October

Set up a targeted offer campaign and promote your shop

Targeted offers let you send a coupon directly to shoppers who favorited your listings or have an item from your shop in their carts. After you set up your targeted offers campaign, share on social media to inspire shoppers to come check out your gift-worthy items.

Our special Etsy-designed image will be ready to share from the social media tool on October 1. Use the social media tool.

Share your most popular listing

Give your followers a peek at what’s popular in your shop. Sharing specific listings on social media can help catch shoppers’ attention. Don’t forget to add the campaign hashtag #MakeItMeaningful to your posts.

Post a listing or a process video

Gifts from Etsy mean more because they’re made by creative people like you! Show holiday shoppers what goes into making your products by sharing a listing or a process video. Head to your listing manager and select the item you want to edit, then scroll down on that page to add your video. Be sure to include the hashtag #EtsyProcess for a chance to have your video featured on Etsy’s social media channels.

November

Promote your Cyber sale on social media

Shoppers love sales events! Run a sale in your shop to take advantage of the increased traffic to Etsy during this key shopping period. Let your followers know you’re running a sale by sharing on social media—it might be just the thing that inspires your followers to make a purchase!

We’ll add a Cyber sale image to the social media tool at the beginning of November so you can start promoting your sale when you’re ready. Use the social media tool.

Share a listing from your shop that makes a great stocking stuffer

Last-minute holiday shoppers are still looking for those meaningful gifts. Share a listing from your shop that’s under $25 and would make a great stocking stuffer.

Share a photo of your packaging

Show off the pretty packaging that shoppers can expect when they purchase from you. Bonus points if you include a handwritten note! Encourage your customers to take a photo of their purchase to add to their review and share on social media with the hashtag #MakeItMeaningful. We might even feature those photos on our social media channels!

Sharing these kinds of images on your social media channels can give shoppers a better sense of your brand and the experience you provide and info on how they can support your business.

December

Say thanks on social media

A thank you coupon brings buyers back to your shop after their purchase—a small discount can inspire them to visit you again to see what else they might be interested in. Say thanks to your customers by setting up a thank you coupon and promoting it on social media.

We’ll add a custom thank you image and post text to the social media tool in early December. Use the social media tool to spread the news.

Go behind the scenes

December can be a busy time for small-business owners. Share a photo of all your packages heading to the post office to let shoppers know you’re hard at work getting orders out the door. Photos like this remind shoppers that as a small business owner you handle everything in-house! Show off that hustle!
