Hand Carved and Inlaid Bowl

+ Hand thrown and trimmed on potter's wheel
+ Uniquely designed and hand-carved
+ Bisque-fired
+ Piece glazed in Watts White and inlayed
+ Final high fire in gas kiln

This bowl was wheel thrown, trimmed and hand carved my design. I then painted three layers of Underglaze on the outside. After bisque firing, I dipped the entire piece in the white glaze. I then carefully scraped the dried glaze off the carved area, reapplied as needed and scraped again. I repeated the process until the glaze was flush with the bowl surface and then lightly sponged off the residual glaze. This carving and inlay technique requires time and patience, but the outcome is worth it.
