These are prints of my original California poppy herbarium specimen (pressed botanical) artwork. They were made from high-resolution scans of the originals. They are available with a light or black background.

These specimens of California poppy (Eschscholzia californica) feature the plant’s beautiful bright orange flowers, seed-containing capsules, deeply dissected leaves, and a longitudinal root section. They were found in their natural habitat in Oregon and were collected by a trained, degreed professional (see my personal profile). Optional, complete collection labels are included in the standard location at the bottom right corner of the front of each specimen adding to their scientific appeal.

The specimens that were used to create the originals were actually two halves of the same plant! Because the entire plant was so big (and would look crowded on one piece of paper), I cut the plant in half longitudinally through its root. The resulting print set is my all-time personal favorite and best seller.

Options:

SIZING - The original herbarium specimens were each 11x14”. However, this set is available in 5x7”, 8x10”, 11x14” and 16x20”! Smaller sizes are printed on natural-colored, archival-quality, heavy-weight cardstock, and 16x20” are printed on heavy, white, poster paper.

BACKGROUND COLOR - All sizes are also available with a "Dark Background." In order to preserve the original colors of the plant, the dark background is digitally added to the artwork file prior to printing (on light-colored paper), resulting in a stunning contrast between the vibrant plant and the black background.

SCIENTIFIC COLLECTION LABEL – All sizes and background colors are also available with just the scientific name of the plant and printed artist signature in place of the collection label.
