The Ceramics-Making Process:

1. Drying:
As the clay is exposed, the drying journey commences. Evolving from a malleable state, the clay loses water, undergoes stiffening, and initiates shrinkage. Following the shaping process, pieces are delicately wrapped in plastic sheets (without holes). This deliberate use of plastic decelerates the drying, allowing for continued workability days later. Preventing rapid drying is crucial, as it averts cracks that could impede the potter's progress.
