Eleanor: A Zine is a handmade intersectional feminist publication for literature and art by female-identifying and non-binary people.

Eleanor’s founder, Angel Cezanne, is a writer from Akron, Ohio. When she was going through a hard time in college and, like, super depressed, she found a button in the gifts section of an adult store called Cirilla’s with a quote attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt, “do one thing everyday that scares you.” The quote served as inspiration for Cezanne as she worked to overcome her anxiety and depression, becoming the editor of her school’s literature and arts magazine, a college radio host, and a teaching artist, bringing poetry into local elementary and high schools. Now Cezanne wants ya’ll to overcome your own fears, whether you came out as queer or trans, rode a rollercoaster for the first time, or sang at an open mic—no accomplishment is too big or small to take pride in and make art about!

Whether you’re a cisgender or transgender woman, or anything other than a cis male, you are welcome to submit any original work that you’d like! We’re open to publishing essays, poetry, journalistic endeavors, photography, paintings, videos of stand-up routines, or audio clips of songs—so long as it isn’t already floating about in the ether of the Internet. With your work, please include your legal name and preferred name, as well as a brief bio!
