My name is Paula Derksen and I am a bookbinder & box maker based in The Netherlands and active on Etsy since November 3rd 2015. I have my own bindery and live near the sea.
Originally, I worked as a teacher, but during my teacher training, I already developed a passion for visual arts and in particular for working with beautiful paper.

In 2005, I came in contact with bookbinding for the first time, and took my first lessons in the subject.
In 2010, I successfully completed my training in hand bookbinding at the VNH (Dutch association for hand bookbinders).

In addition to traditional binding, I have specialized in making wedding albums, ring boxes, storage wedding boxes and concertinas.

RETURNS AND REFUND
I take pride in the quality and craftsmanship of all my products, and my goal is that you are completely satisfied with your purchase. I do my best to photograph or describe my products accurately.
Feel free to ask me for extra details or pictures before you order.

If for some reason the product does not meet your expectations upon arrival, contact me within 14 days following delivery for return authorization and instructions.
NOTE: Personalised items (either foilprinted or blindprinted) like guest books, wedding folders, concertinas, Sparrow albums and tags with initials or weddingdate are not refundable.

If you would like to return or exchange it for an other item, please email me, quoting your name and address, details of the product, the reason for return or which item you require as a replacement.

Products must be sent back in unused and undamaged condition with the original packaging.
All returns must be made within 14 days of authorization.
The item is the responsibility of the buyer until I receive it.

Your original postage costs will not be refundable, unless the item you received was sent in error (e.g. seller sent wrong item). Also you have to pay the customs fee the seller has to pay when the package comes back.

I will refund your money, or exchange it for another item, once your package is received in good condition.

If your package is returned to me and you want me to send it again to you, you will have to pay for the shipping costs again.

In The Netherlands it is shipped as standard shipment with track and trace (pakketpost of brievenbuspakje) you don't have to sign for it and it is not insured. Dutch buyers who want insured shipment, please contact me for the extra costs before ordering.

Most products in my shop are near-ready for shipping (1-3 working days), other products will take 1 - 2 weeks or 2-3 weeks working days after payment is received (see each individual listing).

PLEASE NOTE: I always send to the address on the Etsy invoice.
If you prefer it to be send to another address, please respond to your order within 24 hours after purchase. Once shipped I cannot change the address anymore.

SHIPPING INFORMATION:
A single concertina or guestbook will be sent in a letterbox envelope.
Larger products (ringbox, weddding album) will be send as a package.

DAMAGED MAIL OR LOSS:
All orders are hand packed by me with care and attention.
Damaged mail: you have to go to your postal service for a damage repport. Without a damage report from your postal service I cannot ask PostNL to help you. PostNL needs a damage report from your postal service to start an investigation.
Lost mail: I would like to advice you to contact your country's postal service and see if they can help you out to locate your package. From my side, I can only initiate an investigation into the whereabouts of your package AFTER the official delivery window has closed (determined by the postal services). Once initiated, an investigation will take at least 10 – 12 business days according to PostNL.

BLACK FRIDAY & CHRISTMAS:
Black Friday will be on Friday 27th November 2020.
Please note that in the period November 27 until December 31 the postal services are extremely busy and delivery times are increasing in every country. When your package is at the post office and it is the responsiblity of the postal services I cannot help you. Please be prepared for longer delivery times, if you don’t have that time, consider not ordering.

How do you calculate your shipping costs?

My shipping costs are based on what PostNL (in the Netherlands) charges me (including costs for track and trace & insurance (except domestic) ). On top of that 21% VAT is added. Next comes commission fees Etsy charges me for shipping and finally package and handling costs.

Where possible I make use of strong cardboard envelopes to keep shipping costs as low as possible. If you order more items at the same time, shipping costs for a package are automatically calculated.

Everything is send with track and trace and I will send you that code as soon as I have shipped your order.

Possible fonts / lettercorpses

Names, a (wedding or birth)date, a location or titles on books are foilpressed by me the artisan way, using lead letters at high temperatures. I use foil on linen or blindpress on leatherlook products.

Your own logo on products

I regularly get the question whether a home-made logo can be printed on my products.

I still print in a traditional way with my own lead letter corps.
A (wedding) logo can be made and ordered, which can be used in my foil press, although there is a price tag for a cliché (at least € 150), plus that you are also limited to the maximum size that my foil press can handle.

That is why I always refer to my letter corps. Perhaps there is something that appeals to you.

How quickly can you ship out / deliver?

In a listing you can see the different delivery times for each product. This is usually 3 working days, but for some products I need more time. For example, a ring box classic takes up to 5 working days. After printing, the ring box has to dry for a few days under weight.

If something is out of stock or a color is unchecked, the delivery time for that product is longer. Please contact me then for information.

Keep in mind that the delivery times may increase during the busy wedding season. If you have wishes that can not be found in the shop, which would lead to a custom order, I have to schedule such an order in my agenda. And you have to account then for the making / drying time in the book press.

Can you make a test print before actual printing?

I am not able to make a letterpress proof.
I foil press everything by hand with lead letters (no computer), every letter is picked by hand and it would be to expensive.
The prize of printing in my shop is low, therefore I cannot make proof prints. If you still would like a test print. Please contact me for the costs.

Can I get a discount when ordering 1 or more products?

All my products are handmade by me in the bindery. I only work with high-quality materials and I have carefully selected the suppliers. The products do not roll out of a machine. Everything is cut by hand, glued / covered by hand and letterpress printing is an old craftmanship. This means that all letters are picked by hand, go into the foil press, heated and afterwards I have to put every single letter back in the cabinet. In addition, I have to pay fees to Etsy. I also have to pay a percentage ((9% - 21%) of the product price to the Dutch tax authorities. Plus I also have to pay VAT on shipping costs. This all make that I cannot give a discount.
