The weird and wonderful

In the last few years, I have been to many a car boot sale, vintage shop, antique centre, thrift shop, auction house and charity shop - but despite having moved around and selling many things, my house always seems to grow too small.

Every time I head out, I am looking for the beautiful, the worn yet sturdy, the weird and wonderful; I prefer items that are slightly odd, that make you think or look twice - things that hardly anyone else has. I also have a soft spot for boxes, and old items made out of natural materials like wood, leather, bone and wool. I don't mind it if it's a little banged up or dirty - bringing it back to life (and function) is one of the many joys of this job.

Fortunately, I am realistic enough to know that not all of my treasures can be kept. On Etsy, you will find my best picks, the ones that deserve to be seen. New listings are added to on a (near) weekly basis, so keep checking in.

My upcoming moves will take me to Frankfurt (Germany, March 2016) for a span of 4 months and then I will be moving on to Toronto (Canada, July 2016).

Apart from all of that, I am a photographer - you can see my work on yvettebessels.com - so from time to time I will add some items from my personal collection. I am currently setting up a shop for my own work. All proceeds from photography related items are going directly back into materials to create the next image.

Returns and exchanges
Please contact me if your item has been damaged or lost in the post. Please be aware that glassware / ceramics / fragiles will not be covered by most insurers, so where possible they will be double boxed for safe shipping.

Whilst packages normally arrive within their delivery estimates, I do allow the Post Office up to 2 weeks for domestic (EU) delivery and up to 5 weeks for international delivery before refunding for non-delivery. I will refund on the same date as I can start my claim with them.

Should your item be damaged, please take a clear photo of the item and the damage and send it to me through Etsy or e-mail. I will start a claim with the Post Office on our behalf. Postage is refunded in full for damaged or lost items as it will become part of our claim with the Post Office.

Unwanted items may be returned within 14 days after being received; the buyer will pay for the return postage and a refund will be made after the item has been received and checked. Item must be returned in the same condition as they were sent out. Please be aware that I cannot refund postage for returned items.

Most of my items are vintage, some are antique - and will therefore not always be as strong or resilient as a brand new item. I will never knowingly send out an item that is near breaking point but do please treat your new found treasure with respect as it may be more prone to damage through use.
Payment
Any and all forms of payment accepted. Do contact me for a lay-away service or to have an item reserved for you for a maximum of 7 calendar days (free of charge).

Payment in instalments can be arranged: just contact me for details.

Payment plans that are cancelled by the buyer before the payment has been completed will be refunded minus a £30 fee and the item will be put back up for sale; payment plans that are cancelled by the seller (the item could become lost or damaged) will be refunded in full.

The fee is in place for safeguarding me from fees taken by Paypal / Etsy as there is a maximum amount of time that I can refund a payment without any money being taken from myself.
Shipping
Items are sent out within 1-2 working days unless otherwise stated in my shop announcement. I will use a mixture of new and used packaging materials to wrap your item - it's better for the environment and makes postage a little cheaper. The postage fees I charge you are the actual fees paid to the post office plus a little for the packaging materials (up to max £2 for large items). I do not charge any handling fees.

Shipping overages of £2 or more will always be refunded.

Multiple items in one order will be combined into the same parcel whenever possible. Because my items vary so much in dimensions and weight, the shipping fees will not automatically adjust. Please be aware that I will always automatically refund any overages over £2.

I will happily send gifts straight to the recipient, including a personal note; just leave me the required information in the 'note to seller' at checkout. Items sent out as gifts will be wrapped in new (not re-used) packaging materials. Feel free to let me know which special occasion it's for and I'll endeavour to wrap it nicely :-)

Your parcels are insured in transit so if anything should happen do not hesitate to contact me. The tracking number will be included when I mark the item as 'shipped'.

Tell me more about shipping

Items are sent out within 1-2 working days unless otherwise stated in my shop announcement.

I use a mixture of new and used packaging materials to wrap your item(s) - it's better for the environment and makes postage a bit cheaper. Any postage overages over 2 CAD are refunded.

Postage within Canada: prices are based on the furthest distance and you may well be due a refund once the item has gone out.

Postage to the US and Worldwide: feel free to contact me for a more accurate quote to your state/ country or for much cheaper but MUCH slower surface mail option.

Multiple items are combined into 1 parcel when possible and insured in transit. If a tracking number is available, it will be available in your 'item sent' e-mail.

Can you gift wrap my item?

At the moment, I have no options for gift wrapping available. I will happily send gifts straight to the recipient, including a personal note; just leave me the required information in the 'note to seller' at checkout.

What if my item is damaged or gets lost in the post?

Please contact me with a clear photo of the damaged item, or if the item fails to arrive within 25 working days. I will start a claim with the post office on our behalf.

Do check that you provided me with the correct postal address.
I cannot be held responsible for incorrect mailing addresses and you will not be refunded for your order if it does not arrive.

What if I change my mind?

No problem! You can easily cancel your order before it ships, or let me know within 14 calendar days that you would like to send it back. The buyer will be responsible for postage fees and the safe return of the item in the same condition it was sent out to qualify for a refund.

If you are sending the item back to be from abroad, make sure to write: RETURNED GOODS on the parcel to avoid import brokerage fees.

Can I reserve an item - or pay in instalments?

Yes.....and yes!

You can have an item reserved for you for a maximum of 7 calendar days (free of charge), just send me a convo. I ask a 10% non-refundable deposit to start an instalment plan, further details (instalment amounts, duration of the agreement) will be discussed on an individual basis.

Can I come visit your shop?

I'm sorry, we are an online shop only and we cannot allow for regular traffic through the door.

Unless you are coming to collect a bulky/ fragile item, the pictures and descriptions on the listings are of the actual items and any major defects will be described in the text. Do ask for more information or images if you are unsure.

I am up to date with my inventory so the items you see is what's there at the moment. If I don't carry it here, please try my other store: 1000crowsvintage.etsy.com. Do let me know if there is anything particular that you are after as I never know what I may run into next!

I like one of your items, but not its price?

Just send me a convo with a link to the item and we'll see what we can do - some items have more wiggle room than others, please do not be afraid to ask!

You can also save yourself a little money by combining shipping. I don't mind holding items back so they can be put in the same parcel - item type and size allowing - or you can collect it from my home in Toronto (East York)
